Needs some areas addressed
Patricia Mon 21/11/2017 07:48This is a good hotel but some areas need looked at. The beds have protectors that have a rubber covering and make a very warm uncomfortable nights sleep. The bar are lacking in how to serve specialist Gins, ie no gin glasses, no honeycomb, and no offer if fevertree options. Lastly, having now stated twice I think it’s unusual that your room is never ready 1 minute before 3pm yet the cane knocking at our door at 10am to see if we had vacated! No acceptable!!

Tim Lon 19/11/2017 15:09less tea super and towels in room for the £300 r over a night its a disgrace the place is not clean and if u want a posh room u do not get it no radio in the posh room for your iPhone and could do with more water and ice in room for the price and room service should be free to as u r paying for it in the price beds r to hard to sleep on to

One thing..... create a Charlie Chaplin mini cinema on on a large screen somewhere quiet to go with the Charlie's theme. ( not unlike a large castle in Cong does with a film!!) It would be lovely to sit with a glass of wine and laugh at old movies🎥🎥
Classic Historic Hotel - but the food lets it down!
JRaphaelFon 18/11/2017 23:02We have wanted to combine a walk up Slieve Donald with a a stay at this hotel for some time now and finally we managed it. The hotel was highly recommended by family and it is indeed really nice. Lots of history and all the facilities of a top quality hotel, though we did not get the opportunity to get to use the pool, which looks great.
We had dinner at the hotel the first night and this is where things went astray. The service was sloppy and perfunctory. The food was unimaginative and old fashioned. Two really cold, almost frozen starters lacking taste and flavour and were plonked on the table as opposed to served. Mains that were small and lukewarm. Dessert was great. Overall a poor meal that made us feel that the real chef was nor present, or that you couldn't care less.
Breakfasts the next two morning were only average. Well served but with limited choices; buffet food that is never as good as cooked to order food, no pancakes, smoked salmon or omelettes. Bread choices very limited. Coffee was good.
This is a hotel that has it all but the food offering is not up to scratch. I give a 4 star rating overall but the food would rate a 2 star score.
If management actually take note of reviews then please have a look at your kitchen / dining room offering. Food needs to be properly served, and of top quality, every night that you serve it; and maybe remember that your rivals are well ahead of you and getting better.
