Great place to stay
andrew_breakellon 24/08/2017 16:33Stayed for two nights this week and it was a perfect stay, from the welcome to the comfortable room to the quality of the food. Would recommend this to anybody wanting a good place to stay at a very good price.
Travelling up the A9 with the dog, this is the place
Chazza_and_Lukieon 20/08/2017 14:01The SMH is better described as a really welcoming pub with rooms, with dogs roaming free about the bar and garden. Me and the hound (a Weim, not everyone's cup of tea) were welcomed with open arms, a pat on the nose and a pint. Cue a really relaxing night as a lay up on the way to Caithness. Good honest pub grub, comfy quiet rooms and a proper Scotch brekkie to boot. And dogs free to rag and exercise in the garden after a day in the car. Family run, welcoming family.
A Wee Gem
WarnBrenon 19/08/2017 08:49What a great B&B experience. The Smiddy Haugh is a wonderful old world Inn style property. My room was absolutely spotless and the bed comfortable. There is good free wifi and great tv reception too.
I had reason to stay here for 4 nights while clients of mine were staying in the nearby golf resort. Though I'm sure I got the better part of the deal. The hosts are very hospitable indeed but the real treat is the wonderful fayre on offer in their small restaurant. From the soups to the main courses all the dishes were fantastic. Real fresh ingredients and local produce lovingly created into just scrumptious meals. Hard to beat. And exceptionally reasonably priced.
The proprietors Chef Ginnie and Chris ( excellent breakfast cook by the way ) have created a real wee gem. Could not rate highly enough if you are a fan of the old style B&B experience that is so hard to find these days.
Tip: Great car parking around the back in their own car park.
Enjoyable meal
fullplayon 06/08/2017 19:55I visited today with family. We enjoyed the location. The menu was varied and the food freshly prepared. It was reasonably priced and had a separate children's menu. As we hadn't booked we were told we may have to wait for our meals but found the 25 minutes till our food arrived went by quickly as there was a well stocked book case to peruse. The staff were considerate in bringing the children's food first to save them the wait. The hotel garden was worth seeing too with many flowers in bloom.
