First time in Bora Bora and excellent experience also because of this lovely resort. We chose it because it promised to be quiet, adult only and with a few amenities and we were not disappointed. I don’t know where to start praising this place... because everything was just the way it should be... from the staff (kind, helpful, attentive to the guests needs, always smiling!), to the overwater bungalow (cozy, well equipped, minibar always full and free of charge) with its balcony and deck on the lagoon... perfect starting point to great snorkeling and fish-watching (I loved it!). The coral gardens are just on the other side of the small island so you can just swim there whenever you want! Breakfast was amazing, food and drinks in their own restaurant and bar also excellent. The whole experience was just perfect for us.
Important to mention is their free boat service to the main island! Normally other resorts on motus make you pay extra to take you to the main island, so this point should not be underestimated.
So if you are looking for a lively place with loud music, lots of people and party all the time, DON’T come here! Come here if you are looking for the real and relaxed French Polynesian experience... and you won’t be disappointed.
I read bad reviews complaining about the bungalows being run down and worn out... they are not really... bathroom fixtures could need some renewing, but they are clean and perfectly working... and you are not spending your day in the bathroom nor in your room... so what you get for your money spent (best value compared to other bigger resorts which cost double as much) is well worth it!
On a side note there are geckos in the rooms... and I hate animals in a hotel room... but you have them everywhere here and even worse than small cute geckos... we found maybe 5 or 6 of them over the whole week, but they are shy and run away... nothing compared to what I heard in other resorts... I guess this is the price you need to pay for paradise 😉
Actually we just checked out and are still sitting in the lobby waiting for the boat transfer to the airport in a couple of hours... and I already miss this place!
So if you come to Bora Bora, come to the Private Island! You won’t regret it!

The ambience of this resort is wonderful, its a completely different feel from Sofitel Marara on the main island. I was so happy we selected this smaller, more intimate, place to stay. It has a real "romantic getaway" feel. The overwater bungalows are well appointed, service from staff is excellent, and food was outstanding. Special mention of Sacha, the new Food and Beverage Manager, who went out of his way to accommodate guests. Without exception, all meals at Private Island were amazing! The shuttle service to and from the main island is easy and convenient.

We stayed a week at the Sofitel Private Island and we absolutely loved it. It is small and quaint unlike some of the huge resorts of Bora Bora. There are only 20 ish OWB's and about 10 other bungalows on the island so it feels like you have the whole place to yourself. We stayed in OWB 117 and had an amazing view looking right at the mountain and the lagoon. It was way beyond our expectations
It has natural beauty and a casual feel and we could barely stand to leave. It is nice they have the free shuttle to the mainland and we used that a few times but I must say we were very happy enjoying the island itself
The lookout at sunset is a real nice touch and the views all over the island are exceptions. it has beautiful plants and flowers everywhere.
One reason we chose this hotel is that to is right next to a coral garden and we are big snorkelers. We went every day and some time spent hours in the water. also we like the adult only experience here
To top it off their staff is excellent and so friendly. You get the real Tahitian experience and love here. Everyone was just amazing.

Relaxing, Mesmerising & it's a heaven on earth. It just feels out of the world. Water everywhere. Our room was the last room in the necklace and from our room we could see just water everywhere. From the private hill of the hotel the sun rise view was amazing. The staff were utmost cooperative and getting pure veg food was an issue though. Had lots of fun in the property. The best thing is that it's a private island of Sofitel.
It was a dream come true. Enjoyed everybit of the stay. There was a musical night arranged which was awesome. Everytime going to the city we had to use the boat to cross the water body.

We could not have wished for a more romantic honeymoon get away!
Greeted by warm smiles, fresh coconuts and flower necklaces, we were escorted to our luxurious overwater bungalow which was ladened with freshly picked flowers, and welcoming his and hers gifts.
The morning buffet breakfasts were always diverse and plentiful, and the staff were so helpful with booking day and night time activities.
Thank you so much to Seline and all the staff of Sofitel Private Island who made us feel so at home.
Highly recommend.
