If need to stay in Montevideo for business or pleasure minutes away (10) from the Carrasco international airport this is the place for you to indulge yourself in a luxury totally renewed old fashion and emblematic building. This place it is also 20 minutes away by car from downtown depending. I've booked a suit facing the fron (river view) and it was super spacious with all the amenities and comfort that you expect from a Sofitel hotel.
The SPA is super nice and there is hour of operation where children are not allowed they can only use the external pool. Sorry for those of you who has children but a SPA is a place for relax and tranquility.
I've tried the restaurant and it was very nice and the meal good. The only thing I did not like was that the lobby bar was closed. You can have drinks in the restaurant but it is not the same.
The area is safe and very nice with some shopping and cafes around the hotel were the main casino entrance is located. This is also good since the public who visit the casino do not mix with the hotel guests. In uruguay no matter how expensive is the casino the public could be a little popular and o not match with a hotel of this category.
In general there was a very nice experience and I will come back.

I can't say how grateful I am to have booked this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, very well located, and all the hotel employees goes beyond their duties to make you feel welcome. I would like to give a special compliment to Mr. Rodrigo Tanco (Lobby Experience Manager) and Mrs. Leandra; Sofitel is very lucky to have such good and dedicated professionals working in this hotel .
Montevideo was also a great surprise! It's a beautiful city , well organized, cousy, polite people and plenty of stuff to do ; It is sadly a little bit pricey compared to Brazil , specially Punta del Este.
I stayed here a week and I would definitely come back for more Uruguay experience.

The Montevideo Casino Carrasco is a great hotel. The breakfast is very good. The suite in front of the sea has a magnificent view. The staff are amazing. Cost benefit is very good for Sofitel. I recommend and I will try to back soon. But if want to go to downtown and malls, you need a take a taxi. The restaurant is a bit expensive, but executive lunch on business days is cheaper with a nice food.

OK, a little dramatic on the title but here's the deal: We enjoyed an incredible 7 (8?) course tasting menu with wine pairings for $120 US - for both us us, including tax & tip. Didn't stay at the hotel but the public spaces made me wish I had. A grand, glorious old facility that's been whimsically redone with imagination, taste, and quality. The service was above and beyond, the staff knowledgeable in explaining where to get the incredible local olive oil (for example).
Desserts were sophisticated yet not precious, all in all a total surprise. Bravo Montevideo!

Excellent, there is nothing to say if not good things. The only problem is that they do not accept Diners and the sound of the room does not have the adapter for Iphone 7. But they are just details, all the rest, service, restaurant, reception architecture and location are amazing.
