We stayed at this comfortable, friendly family run hotel on our journey. The staff were helpful and the hotelier was able to share, in very good English, his knowledge about the cuisine, culture, history and geography of the area. The chef prepared us a delicious four course meal with wine for 20 euros each which was excellent, and as a vegetarian it was my best meal of the whole tour.
Highly recommended

We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in this delightfully renovated country mansion.
Our host was convivial and full of interesting stories, facts and history of the region, it's food, wine, traditions and attraction s which added to our enjoyment.
We highly recommend the hotel restaurant for traditional food and wine all prepared and served with care and attention.
Our room was very comfortable, large with a balcony and decorated in antiques. The bathroom was equally well presented.
For a quiet getaway or to discover a taste of the real Portugal a visit here will not disappoint.
Romantic Turimso Rural, very nice owners, local restaurants in walking distance, free Wifi, Pool

If you want to stay in a cosy romantic old house (with only 12 rooms) with nice details, wooden floors, high ceilings etc. this is the your place. Stay away if you expect a 5* Hotel.
It is more a Turismo Rural than a 3* hotel but offers a nice pool in the backyard, free Wifi and parking lots. The owner family is very nice, speaks excellent English (so it's easy to communicate).
We didn't follow Jaime's recommendation to have dinner at "Alfonsos" but went to Retiro Cacacha which offers local stuff for low local prices (I prefer restaurants which offer the traditional "meia dose" half portion). Nothing to hype about but cheap and good.
There are some minor reasons why I don't want to give 5of5: I had the feeling that attention to detail was missing a bit: the office area looks chaotic and with a bit small efforts they could make the breakfast (and restaurant) area a bit more inviting (e.g. table clothes)
Absolutely recommend for some days (weekend getaway)

Hotel Solar dos Lilases is an old palace turned into hotel. So... This means exactly what you're thinking. It's an old house, almost completely refurbished in order to accomodate guests with enough comfort to cal it a hotel and throw 4 stars at it. It could have had 3 or 5, I guess that is a debatable issue. I'd have given it 4, although wouldn't be shocked if it was otherwise - hotels in Portugal vary too much from place to place. A 3 star hotel in Alentejo might be as good as a 4 star hotel in the Algarve. This is why Tripadvisor exists.
Me and my girlfriend went there for a weekend. We live near - approximately 60 miles from Mora - and decided it was the right weekend to relax out of home. Right on!
The hotel is on the side of the road - left if you're getting into the village from the west. Easy to spot!
Once you go in you can feel that "heavy dark surrounding" that's a characteristic of old houses. Dark squealing floors, big doors and ling corridors. It's cool that they've kept the feeling... But once you go up the stairs to the 2nd floor bedrooms it's a whole different story. All renewed and brightness everywhere. Just a spot... No elevator! So if you're bringing a lot of lugagge or have locomotion issues, you're in trouble. Despite there aren't too many steps along the way, they're thick and steep.
The room was good. Large enough for the both of us. Has a desk, a chair and a couch. The TV was the worst part of it. One of the old chuncky models with very weak reception on national channels and no reception at all for foreign ones. It was a good thing we weren't there to watch TV.
The bathroom was small but again, enough for 2. No bath, only shower.
All was clean up and tidy.
The most amazing thing about the room is the view. The balcony is small but the view is amazing. You could paint an amazing landscape from it. I'll upload some pictures for you later.
The view is shared by the restaurant. Amazing breakfast with that view.
I was so sad the chef was on holiday and we couldn't enjoy a meal on that beautiful cosy restaurant...
The pool is another plus. Small but very relaxing. No noise and very relaxing and refreshing in the middle of the summer. Loved it.
The owners and the employees also add an extra star to it. All very friendly and nice. Always smiling and eager to help you around the area.
We will, eventually, return.
The Alentejo Close to Lisbon

Less than a two hour drive from Lisbon brings you to Mora and the Hotel dos Liláses. The hotel is a quirky old building, lovingly restored by its owners, Jaime and his family. Painted ceilings, four poster beds, it has it all. Mora is well situated to enjoy the rolling plains of the Alentejo, and, of course, its amazing food and wines. Give the hotel restaurant a try, it serves real Alentejo fare and good local wines at reasonable prices. The view is also very nice. Be sure to book your table, especially on weekends and holidays. Jaime and his family are a great source of information on anything and everything about Mora and the surrounding areas.
