What People are saying

great time at captiva

carlabaxter65 on 14/11/2017 20:50

Room was great we stayed in a 2 bedroom tennis villa, clean and updated nicely. steps from tennis courts and doc's rum bar, which had delicious food. short walk to island restaurants, recommend key lime bistro! Resort was amazing everything you could ask for was there for your taking.

Wonderful stay!

After reading mixed reviews about the resort, I was very nervous upon check in but ended up making the best choice. Check in was quick and we asked for an UPDATED unit (bayside 3 bedroom villa). It was newly renovated on the 3rd floor with great views of the mangroves and back bay. There is a pool near every complex area which is nice because our pool never had anyone at it.

We ate at Doc Fords the first night which was the most amazing seafood we have had in swfl. We utilized the beach chairs and umbrellas at the north beach near the main resort pool. The trolley was always coming and we never waited more than 5 minutes for it. The two waterslides and main pool with tiki bar are awesome but crowded at times. There is a beach bar at the north end beach area but drinks are $13. Be sure to get coupon books at check in for 2-4-1 drinks and other free things. We also used a coupon for paddleboarding which was easy and fun. Harborside restaurant has a small and pricey menu. The inside atmosphere isn't good either. We went back to Doc Ford's the last night because it was so good.

The starbucks, shopping, and bike rentals are on the south end by the bayside villas. At check in be sure to ask about the bike rental because it's a better deal than the bike shop across the street.

Overall, the resort was well kept and staff members were very nice. We have already planned our trip back next year.

Stunning and Perfect Respite After 9 Days in Orlando!

Faith W on 13/11/2017 13:55

We recently spent 5 days at the South Seas Island Resort following a bustling 9 days in Orlando at the theme parks. This place is amazing. The staff were fantastic - helpful, friendly and extremely warm and welcoming. We stayed in the apartments near the Tennis School and on first being told that the main pool complex was 4km away at the other end of the island, were a little worried we would be quite isolated...we needn't have been. There was a small pool near to our apartments but were advised of the trolley (old fashioned bus) that made its way around the island and drops off right outside the pool complex. The trolley runs every 10-15 mins from about 7am through til around 11:00am and there is a handy app you can download that you can track the trolley on. The majority of the resort ie pool bar, Harbour restaurant etc is cashless and charged to your room which is quite handy....until you get the bill when you check out. Those rum cocktails soon add up but are totally worth it. There is a Starbucks on site and some shops as you leave the resort, good for picking up a few souveniers but if you venture a little further around the corner there is an island shop, beach shop (which was running a 40% discount when we were there) and it was a little treasure trove for memories to take back home with us. We checked out the Mucky Duck which was fabulous food and on the night we went, we arrived as the sun was setting, outside is a sandy/beach type area right next to the actual beach, there was a guy playing guitar and cranking out some good sing a long tunes and a christmas tree all decorated and it was one of the most chilled places we have ever been. You must try the Bubble Room which is a one of a kind place, really quirky and unusual and has a really lovely gift shop - food was lovely too. The Island grocery store sells lovely little cakes and pastries and delicious warm empanadas and really not too overpriced. We were treated to watching dolphins from the pool side, manatees at the harbour, a raccoon while on the trolley and on leaving the resort and sadly having to make our way home, a turtle crossing the road. There seemed to be plenty of activities, lots of tennis courts, a stunning beach...the list really does go on. We had the most fabulous time, a family of 4 and a family of 3 and considering personally, this was my first time to the states I felt completely spoiled. Save to say we are on a plan to save up and return. Best holiday I have ever had......

Great getaway !!

We recently stayed at South Seas Island Resort. We were supposed to stay on the north end of the resort but due to the recent storms had to stay on the south end in one of the condos. The condo was very nice. We had a great view of the water and the beaches were great to walk. We had a nice pool to swim in and tennis courts nearby. The hotel staff was very cordial and made sure to attend to our needs. They have a trolley to take you to the north end of the island. Just off the island is a restaurant called the Mucky Duck that is fabulous. We will be returning to South Seas Resort again.
