What People are saying

Wonderful hotel in amazing location, great food and friendly staff

Dorothy01smithon 17/09/2017 19:27

it was our second visit and everything was just as good as the first time! lovely, friendly staff and family who always gave their time willingly to help you plan walks etc. The food was top class and each night is themed adding a lovely variety. The location allows so many different walks, cycling and so much else to do on the doorstep. I would highly recommend staying at this lovely hotel.

Wonderful food and staff

This hotel is up the hill a little from the centre of Corvara and looked a little bit dark as we approached and entered the lobby. From there on it just kept getting better. The room overlooking the valley and village was huge with a "panoramic" view. Rooms are clean, not too fussy, light and airy, plenty of space and a big balcony. So we liked the room, and the view. We were half board and breakfasts gave us a large range of options which suited everyone in a party of six. All menus had allergens noted for each course. Dinners were spectacular, not quite Michelin star presentation, but the flavours and variety were the best we have had outside of a Michelin restaurant anywhere. There were one or two normal nights which were very good but there were at least 4 themed nights during the week, and these really were special. This was a lot of effort from all the staff. At all times the owners and staff worked very hard, made us feel welcome and hopefully enjoyed our custom as much as we enjoyed their service. We have stayed at many 5star hotels supposedly with good food but this has consistently been the best.

Beautiful area Beautiful Hotel

We stayed here as part of a walking holiday with Colletts. Colletts were great and we had some super walks with their young , helpful and enthusiastic "guides". Their knowledge and organisation was great, and the choice of self walks or guided walks in groups was excellent. The hotel was lovely and our room had a great view. . The hotel is a bit out of Corvara, a good 15 min walk, and uphill on the way back, but luckily we had a car. We had a room in the annex, which you could get to by walking across the road or via a tunnel fro the main hotel . The room was bright, clean and had lots of storage space. The staff were helpful and it had decent facilities like pool and solarium. Half board was included and we were lucky enough to get a table overseeing the town. You get the same table every day and the service in our area was very good. Breakfast was continental buffet, with a good choice. Dinner was generally a five course extravaganza, which was delicious mostly. The odd course was a bit of a miss but it was good to try some different things. I would have given the hotel a five star rating but on our last night dinner the kitchen had a bit of a meltdown. They ran out of main course, despite us having ordered it in the morning, so we ended up have schnitzel and french fires instead! Disappointing especially when we had invited our son, at not a small cost, to join us for a special meal. But the manager was very apologetic. It was a shame but overall the Panorama was an excellent hotel to stay and enjoy the beautiful Dolomites.

Sheer excellence tempts us back despite our usual stance

Raymond Mon 09/09/2017 21:12

My wife and I usually take the stance that we wont return to the same place as there are so many places to explore. So why have we stayed at the Sporthotel Panorama four years running? I have reviewed this hotel before and gave it 5 stars. This was because of truly exceptional hospitality, food and location. The only slight shortcoming was that the rooms were a bit dated. So when last year we were there, at the end of the summer season, and they started to rip out unoccupied rooms for extension and renovation we were really looking forward to our next stay. And we weren't disappointed. The newly enlarged rooms are certainly a great improvement, if a little utilitarian. The food and staff still maintain their wonderful level of excellence and of course the location is still fantastic. The evening meal usually starts with a salad and meats buffet where the temptation is to pile high. This should be resisted a little though (difficult as that is) as there are at least 4 more courses of delicious food to come! And on several evenings there are special events, such as the aperitifs evening where you can take some drinks on the house while sampling a huge array of small dishes that would grace any Michelin starred restaurant. Another evening we had a 7 course taster menu. And I nearly forgot to mention the cakes and fruit always available in the afternoon for free. Luckily, despite this treasure of temptations leading to over eating, I didn't put on a pound after 10 nights in the hotel. How not? By walking several miles and/or climbing every day in the extensive and beautiful surroundings. You can find challenging walks, or as my wife, recovering from gall bladder surgery found, easy but still wonderful walks. The hotel is family owned and they are there at the coal face, working with the staff. They obviously care enormously about the hotel and it shows. So, next year I look forward to breaking my pledge again and returning for the 5th year running (still one year short of our friends, to whom we are so grateful for first discovering and bringing us to this Hotel).
