What People are saying

Great Hotel next to Ted Constant arena

BandEontherun on 15/11/2017 17:42

We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were great. The rooms were very clean and well taken care of. And oh what a great breakfast. We sleep very well here . The room and the beds were very comfortable. I highly recommended staying here. Especially if you are here for an ODU event.

Quite nice but needs a little more ooomph!

Had a short overnight stay last weekend and found this hotel that met my needs. It's a very convenient location - has a 24/7 Denny's within walking distance and a few minutes away from where I needed to be for a meeting. The check-in process was okay. The front desk agent wasn't very engaging and left an underwhelming impression on me. The lobby looked nice and clean. Made my way up to the 5th floor to my room after getting the room key. First impression was that the room looked "tired." Felt like the air was stale in there. I noticed the alarm clock wasn't plugged in so I had to get that going. Next, I thought I could charge my phone but the alarm clock charging dock is made for the older iphone versions. If you have a lightning connector type iphone - you are outta luck. So out came the my own charger to get some juice into the battery. I liked having a nice kitchenette area in the room - had a microwave, small sink and small fridge. It was nice to have a place to put snacks and keep water bottles cool.

But it did seem like housekeeping needs to pay more attention to the details. In the sink area, the tissue box dispense was empty. Not a tissue to be had in the room. Aside from that, the rest of the room was fine. The breakfast spread was pretty good. Much better than I expected. There were eggs, sausage, ham, oatmeal, pastries, fresh fruit, juices, coffee tea...the usual breakfast fare. I was impressed with how clean the breakfast area was. Staff was top notch in that department. Check out was a much nicer process. Staff was engaging and made me feel happy that I chose to stay in this hotel property.

Convenient location for our trip to visit our navy son

Greg L on 24/10/2017 23:37

We just spent six nights in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area visiting our son who is stationed on one of the navy ships in the Norfolk shipyard. This was a reschedule from the month before when we found out he would not be able to get much time away from his ship duties so we not only changed our reservation dates, we also changed which hotel we would be staying at. We settled on this one as it appeared to be reasonably located near the highway and about halfway between downtown Norfolk and the Virginia Beach oceanfront area.

We were booked into a room on the 6th (of 6) floor of the hotel, very near the elevator. I had never been asked before whether we wanted this or not as an option when we checked in, but it was nice to have a choice. I personally enjoyed being on the top floor, as I used the stairs multiple times during each day to get a little bit of extra workout to make sure that was able to work off some of the complimentary breakfasts which were served every morning.

We have found over the years that staying at a hotel with this breakfast service can save a lot of money for the family, as without a kitchenette in the rooms eating out multiple times per day can get pretty expensive. The breakfasts were pretty satisfying, with almost everything you can think of made available in abundant supply. Being on west coast time as well for most of the trip, we also appreciated that they left the breakfast open until 9:30am EST, so that we didn't have to get up at a ridiculous time for the schedule we elected to try to stay on. The staff kept the area neat and clean, and even passed through the eating area regularly to take dirty dishes and utensils away quickly.

Having a laundry area available ($1.50 per load as of 10/2017) was convenient, with three washers and three dryers located at the far end of the third floor. It was a simple matter of setting the watch for about 30 minutes for the wash load and 45 minutes for the dryers to complete. The front desk has detergent and rolls of quarters available as well.

I took advantage of the small rec center area they have available to customers, which sported some free weights as well as an elliptical, two heavy duty treadmills and a couple of bike machines for customers of the hotel. I only saw one other person in there the entire week, so it was a pleasant, quiet place to get in some daily work without having to worry about leaving the hotel.

A brand new Denney's opened up while we were visiting this week, which moved over from across the busy street from an older building. This is a convenient restaurant open 24 hours a day, and we took advantage of this nearby business for quick, late-night meals.

In general we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend this to anyone planning to visit the area. The staff was helpful and courteous at all times and although the building has signs of many years of use it is kept in clean, working condition.

Great Stay

Front desk was very helpful helping me check in early on a busy Saturday. Housekeeping was very nice and so were the ladies who took care of the continental breakfast. Only negatives were the uncomfy bed and pillowcases filled with air. Back ache!!

All in all I would stay again.

My family and I had a wonderful stay. The complimentary breakfast was really good. All the employees was professional and very nice. We will be staying there again when we come back to visit family over the holidays.
