Excellent hotel with character. Very helpful and friendly staff. Fantastic rooftop bar with open terrace affording views of the Bay of Naples, Mt Vesuvius with great sunsets over Ischia. 5-10 mins easy walk to Circumvesuviana rail station (direct trains to Sorrento, Naples and Pompeii). Plenty of shopping and good quality restaurants close by. Only downside is local beach is not the best but Sorrento is only 20 mins away by low cost train. Hotel also has a range of trips available.

The town does not look promising but once we reached the central, it acquired a quaint atmosphere. Stabia adds to this. First built in 1876, it has all the period trappings with modern conveniences. Rooms were big and clean, each opening to an airy corridor wrapped around a large airwell. Don't miss drinks at the terrace for fantastic sunsets and views of Vesuvius. As we're travelling with Trafalgar, we had dinners here. Very good food!

We spent one week at Hotel Stabia. Prior to arrival, they hotel arranged for a pick-up at the Naples airport. We arrived at 8:00 a.m.on a Saturday. Our room was not yet ready, but we were invited to have buffet breakfast on the top floor terrace. Not the greatest food, but considering we were finally able to relax after a very long trip from Phoenix, Arizona, the food and atmosphere was much appreciated!
After we ate, we sat in the atrium and waited less than 30 minutes for our room to be ready. Upon seeing that our plug adapters didn't work for Italian outlets, the management gave us a plug adapter to use for the week, so that we could charge our phones.
The hotel itself is old. 160 years. It is quaint. It is not a brand-new Hilton. It has character. The furnishings are fitting for the hotel. Our room on the 5th floor was very big. We had a view from our balcony of the ocean and the promenade. Mt. Vesuvius was just out of range from our balcony.
The staff was beyond terrific. If we needed a ride to another hotel in Stabia to be picked up for a tour, they would do it. Note, some tours will pick up at Hotel Villa Cimmino. Be aware that your pick-up is on a very busy highway, which you may have to run across to get to the pick-up spot. One afternoon, the driver from Hotel Stabia had to literally step into afternoon traffic, arms spread open to stop traffic for us to cross!! Brave man!
Things to improve: The wifi is hit or miss. My husband's phone picked up better than mine. I would leave the room, walk halfway down the hall to pick up the signal and return to the room. But truthfully, that has happened in other places in Europe also.
Bath mats! A rubber bathmat is needed in the tub. Very slippery.
Perhaps one of the tv channels could be Sky or BBC or CNN. I felt a little out of touch.
Overall, great place. Location on the beach is great! 10 min. walk to train station. Near many restaurants. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

This hotel looks nothing from the outside, once you walk in its rather cute. The whole hotel is a maze and its right down the beach front. There are a few lifts and ots a maze yo get to your room. Rooms are huge checked floors beds are small the dinner area level 6 is a grand ball room dinner wasnt bad

A lovely hotel with pleasant and helpful staff who will go out of their way to make your stay pleasurable. Situated in a true Italian working class town within the shadow of Vesuvius which has a scenic mountain backdrop and encompassed in a large bay. Only 20 minutes from Sorrento and Pompei it has a Lovely promenade with beach but not currently suitable for swimming or sunbathing. Lido beach available 5mins away by train. Cable car ride to mountain top behind town. Ferries available to Naples/Sorrento and Capri from the marina. Plenty of places to eat next to the promenade and Marina with plenty of fresh seafood. Cheap public transport 👍.
