I stayed at the Stone Willow Inn with a friend for one night in late September. Our room included two queen sized beds. The heating/cooling system was odd and complicated to figure out but it did work just fine once we'd solved it. The room was clean, well maintained, and charming. I will concede that the decor was outdated but I've never really understood why that matters to people as we all spend the majority of our time in these places with our eyes closed. The one thing a hotel should do right is provide a quality 8 hours of sleep and that is where this establishment fell woefully short. The mattresses were atrociously old and uncomfortable. They weren't just firm, they provided little to no padding at all from the springs. I requested pillow tops with the desk and I was treated (politely enough) as though I was the first guest to ever make such a baffling request. The desk staff did send up a couple of extra blankets for me and even after I piled up 2 of of them I still didn't sleep well.
The breakfast provided wasn't anything to write home about either. They had a pretty cool waffle iron but the batter wasn't kept properly chilled. It took on a bit of an eggy mucus taste as a result. I can't in good conscience recommend this place

Excellent service. Had booked and prepaid the room with balcony - beds are not really a queen size so requested to switch to 2 rooms. Very helpful, although gave the wrong price when we took the rooms. Paid the quoted price for the one and regular price for the other - acceptable solution. Breakfast was good and dinner in the restaurant one night was great. Walls are a little thin - although connecting room - so heard the kids crying at 1 am in the next room - because the parents had left them alone. Parents fault - not the inn. Homey decorating, no not the Westin but very comfortable and clean. Would stay again.

Hotel is :dated",,, needs an upgrade. There is no elevator, our room was on the 2nd floor.... rug in hallway is torn, stained and has to be replaced, it is now a health hazard. The room is "dated"... 1950 or so. Nothing worked in our room, the air conditioner would not work, we were able to open on window a little to get so air! Coffee maker did not work.... and yes you guessed it...THE SHOWER DID NOT WORK! Management had an opportunity to respond to my email... no response. On the positive side, there is a restaurant in the building... but it is privately operated and not owned or run be the hotel and it was good..

Lovely hotel on the outskirts of town. Peaceful grounds and lovely spacious house and rooms.
The food in the on-site restaurant was exceptional. The coconut chicken was the best meal i had in Canada over a 3 week holiday
Location is convenient for both St Mary's (need a car to drive in), Stratford and London.

I was in St. Mary's on business for 3 nights and my wife & I thought she would enjoy going with me. As a result we booked and agreed to pay more for an upgraded room with a balcony or Jacuzzi. When we arrived we were placed in a lower level room and when I pointed out we were in the wrong room the desk attendant said there was nothing he could do that night , I would need to talk to another person in the AM. In the AM , Shadi, the desk attendant apologized and helped us move to the correct room, he dealt with this very well, and wondered why the attendant the night before did not call him, as the room we booked was vacant (I wonder why). I wished it had not have taken the overnight to make this change. When we got to our room upstairs, the Wi-Fi did not work. When I asked the same desk person as when we checked in, what was wrong with the internet, he responded it never works very good upstairs! There was an in house secure Wi-Fi that had a sufficient signal to work, but I was told only one employee in the whole hotel knows the password and he didn't. Needless to say the stay was a little frustrating. If you plan to stay here make sure you get confirmation of the room # you booked, not just the rate as I had. Also book the first floor rooms if you want Wi-Fi. In the end , the room we got with the balcony was nice and the restaurant in the hotel (different owners than the hotel) was fantastic.
