nice geothermal park...

The only free geothermal park in Rotorua. Located in the center of town. Lots of parking. Does get crowded. Pretty huge so expect lots of walking but nothing strenuous.
We spent like 2 hours plus here. Admiring all the different geothermal activities. From bubbling mud pools to boiling thermal lakes to steaming rocks. Gives you a good impression of Rotorua's geothermal environment. There is even public thermal foot bath. Make sure you find the biggest thermal lake which has a boardwalk going over it. Really amazing experience. Don't worry about the thermal activity as it is all fenced up to avoid any untoward incidents.
Definitely a place not to be missed. Great for the kids.
Nothing much to see

If you are looking for a smoky and in a budget tight. You can come here but nothing special. If your holiday is in budgeted time, dont waste time coming in this place.
Disappointing!

Our first day in Rotorua and it was a miserable rainy day! However, that didn't stop us from visiting the market at the park but was rather disappointed with the small crowd and sparse market stalls. Mostly cheap eats on vans and a few vegetable stalls. Not appealing at all. Don't waste time visiting, but I suppose on a sunny day, the park could be more appealing.
A good way to spend 1-2 hours if you have little kids. Free entrace.

Recommend you visit to get a up close view of the geysers. As the photos show we were lucky to go at a time when the mist was pretty heavy. Its a public park ( free entrace) with attractions and play areas for kids as well. Go check it out.
Pleasant

Pleasant walk through free thermal park on our way back from viewing the lake. We also saw some pretty birds which we couldn't identify, unfortunately.
