What People are saying

An "Awkward" Hotel

DCTraveler2222on 15/06/2017 15:30

The Novotel Suites Rouen Normandie is located on the outskirts of downtown Rouen, near the Seine walkway. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and there were very few people around. (Be careful about using Google Maps to get there as it had difficulty locating the place.) I agree with the comments of “Rachel W” (whom I do not know) regarding this hotel as she seemed to capture its essence. As Rachel W noted, the bathroom is a plastic pre-fab type of room and, to my way of thinking, was “awkward” to use. The rooms are quite big – but strangely furnished. The television is set out from the wall on a separate mechanism – and on a slant, which seemed to be precarious. (The hotel says it has CNN but that channel was not working and because it was the weekend, this was not fixed while I was there.)

As I arrived on a Saturday afternoon, I was able to park on the street next to the hotel and parking was free. The sites of Rouen (and there are many) are a 20-minute walk away. There are some restaurants near to the hotel on the Seine walkway and I can especially recommend Le Cargo, which has very tasty food. The hotel has a friendly staff and a large reception area where breakfast is served (I did not have breakfast, which is extra). There is also a type of refrigerated canteen where you can buy microwavable items, candy and snacks.

One sour note was that while there was an alarm clock in the room (which is unusual for hotels in this class), the alarm went off at 6:30 am on a Sunday morning, waking me from a sound sleep. And trying to stop the alarm from not repeating was difficult given my sleep deprivation. It repeated twice until I figured it out.

Great stop-over hotel

We used this as as stop off point from the ferry when travelling to South of France. The rooms are very spacious and clean with nice big beds. The bathroom / toilet is a pre-fab module inserted into the room which is a little unusual (like being on a boat). The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a small area in reception with some books/ toys/ games for children, the children were also give a little teddy on arrival which was a nice touch. There is also secure parking under the hotel which was reasonably priced.

Location - it was a bit of a walk into town and some of the roads were busy and quite derelict. We walked back along the river instead which is much nicer although slightly longer. The sat nav got a bit confused with the one way system and we drove round in circles trying to get to the hotel (we could see it but couldn't cross the road) but it wasn't too difficult as the roads were fairly quiet.

Good hotel

It is a standard Novotel, with the same quality in the hotel, rooms and service in general. Rooms are ample, as well as the bathroom. All very clean. I expected a better view from the Seine from the room, but was dissappointed as buildings in the walkway cover the view.
Although it is a little but far from city centre, it is only 30 m walking distance and you are away from the tourist noise.

Great place to stay in Rouen

The Novotel Suites is ideal for visiting Rouen. Located in a quiet location by the river with easy access to the riverside promenade which is great for walking or cycling. There are a number of nice bars and restaurants nearby along the promenade. Rouen city centre is really beautiful and is a short 10 minute walk away. The bedrooms are quite big with an open plan sitting room alongside. The breakfast is really good.

Great hotel

Had a very enjoyable four night stay here. Great room, comfortable, clean, quiet, lots of space, and great to have a fridge in the hot weather. Plentiful and tasty breakfast although fairly expensive. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location, on waterfront, with several decent restaurants/ bars within 5 minutes. Handy if you don't want to walk back into town in the evening, although town centre only 15 minutes walk along the waterfront. Very busy roads around hotel so noisy if you have windows open, but rooms air conditioned.
