The place to stay

Every time we visit Kimberley (at least once/year) we rent a slope side condo in Sullivan Stone (Kimberley Lodging Company). Amazing condos, great location, ski to the door, hot tub looking up the ski hill. It simply doesn't get any better than this!

Stayed at 27. Beautiful view of the Columbia valley. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, with a well appointed kitchen, dining table sat 6 and eating bar sat 3. Plenty of dishes and glassware. Just had to purchase a cork screw on the second day. (A neighbour loaned us one the first night). The BBQ lighter didn't work, and the grill had to be cleaned and "burned off" before we used it. There were three bedrooms , 2.5 bathrooms, and some sofa beds. The hot tub was immaculate, and very welcome after a ski day. Extra towels, pillows and lots of kitchen linens. We would book again.
Confusion at check in

We recently booked to stay at Sullivan Stone Lodge in Kimberly. We received email confirmation, giving us an address and a note telling us to check in after 4:00. We arrived in the evening with our three children. We had written confirmation, reference numbers, printed versions. All was in place. Or so we thought.
Our first problem was that the address provided to us was not the correct address - we had been given the address to the ski hill. This was the confirmation address we had received and the address on the booking company site.. We drove around in the dark until my daughter found an alternate address for the property online.
We pulled up to the Lodge to discover that there was no no reception office, no location to check in.
We phoned the number that had been provided to us and got a message that was a week old; the phone then automatically disconnected.
We tried an emergency number that my daughter again managed to find online and got a voice message box that was full and not accepting any more messages.
We tried the original number again and got a person who told us that we had been confused with someone else and they expected us to arrive the next day. We were told to proceed to a dropbox and pick up a set of keys left in the name of another person for another resort - that was off the ski hill and not really comparable to Sullivan Stone.
This women told us that it was only chance that we happened to reach her as she was not actually supposed to be answering the phone in the evening - she had no idea what to respond when we asked her what we should have done.
We were then told that actually there had been a leak at Sullivan Stone and we might or might not be transferred there the next day. Given that it was a two night stay only, our interest in packing up five of us and moving on the day we expected to be skiing was low, although we had been very interested in staying on or beside the hill.
This woman told us that they had phoned the booking company to tell us that there had been a change in accommodation. The booking company (the next day) adamantly denied that they had any such notification.
We spent a chunk of our ski time the next day trying to determine whether we needed to move - because there presumably was a person who actually expected to arrive and stay in the lodge where we had just slept. Alternatively, it appeared that the person would arrive and find herself happily upgraded to the property we had paid for.
If you decide to stay at Sullivan Stone Lodge, be sure to realize that
1) there is no place or person to check in with onsite
2) the address on some booking websites is not the actual address
3) the contact phone numbers may or may not be answered
4) you may be told that although you thought you booked slope side accommodation, they actually have no obligation to put you in slope side accommodation - when we objected to being off the hill, we were told that there never had been any guarantee of being on the hill anyway
5) should you run into difficulty you will have the frustrating conversations where both the Lodge and the booking company blame each other and neither sees it as their responsibility to address the problems.

Fantastic accommodation at #21. All amenities that we needed. Nice decor, great view and awesome hot tub. A+ for a home away from home. There was re-paving happening. This will be brilliant when it comes time for ski season. Great place for families but would be a struggle for people with restricted mobility. (3 flights of stairs).
Unit 17 and 21 -Great location - horrible service by Rocky Mountain Accomodations

We have been to Kimberly multiple times with fantastic experiences with customer service... But not this time.
To summarize we had arranged our accommodations with promise of a unit that would accommodate 4 couples and kids. The day before we were informed they got our dates wrong and would have to put us in a different, yet comparable unit. It went down as follows.....
- not appropriate amount of space as promised. The one "double pullout" was a single at best.
-Bed sheets (not enough sheets and blankets for all beds), towels (maybe 4 small towels to be used for hottub and showering) and kitchen cloths were questionably cleaned (smelled of mildew and hair found on multiple pieces) and still in dryer on arrival.
- hot tub was dirty on arrival (couldn't see your legs through the cloudiness of the water- yuck!) and wouldn't warm up. After multiple attempts to get service from rockymointain rental outfit, we were without a hottub for the whole weekend :(((
- dishwasher didn't run one clean load the whole time we were there then leaked on the last dAy- and we got blamed for it being broken?!?
On arrival and throughout this horrible situation we attempted multiple times to contact rockymountain rentals to rectify the situation. Either switch to the booked unit the next day or find alternative arrangements. They would not answer calls. Finally on day two, they responded and offered an additional unit three blocks away for SOME of our group to stay in. We were greeted by full garage bags at the front door, nut shells on the floor and dirty linens on the beds.
This was a complete fail and lack of any regard for customer satisfaction and retention.
Too bad..... Definitely will go back to Kimberly as it is a great family ski destination but never rent from Rocky Mountain accommodations again and unfortunately it's the owners who suffer..... :(((((
