Our home away from home is no more. She was destroyed by Irma. It was our home away from home for 34 years. We spent 5 weeks every year and will be sorely missed. The people at the Summit were the greatest

Bruce, the owner of the Summit Resort Hotel, has advised that the hotel was destroyed by Hurricane Irma and will *not* be rebuilt.
The future of the land, a prime location with magnificent views, has not been disclosed.
Most visitors who stayed there quickly became part of the Summit "family." We had stayed there every visit since 1985. We knew their names; they remembered us from year to year. We watched their kids grow up; they watched our son grow up.
Those staff members who resided on the property now are not longer only jobless, they are homeless.
This is a true tragedy.

I stayed at the resort September 1-4, 2017. It was my first time on the island, and I fell in love with it. The Summit Resort Hotel was devastated by Irma on September 6, but I hope it will rebuild and I will see these wonderful folks again. The resort has a fantastic team in Evans, all of the front-desk ladies, and janitorial and security staff. Everyone I met was knowledgeable, friendly and professional, and did such a terrific job of making me feel at home and welcome. I especially appreciated Evans’ recommendations regarding things to do on the French side and local dishes/drinks. The resort is at a beautiful, safe and quiet location just past busy Simpson Bay as you drive from Princess Juliana Airport. The location is especially convenient for venturing out into the French side (both Marigot and Grand Case can be reached within 30 minutes; dinner at Au Coin des Amis in Grand Case is a fun and very local experience). The beaches of Cupecoy Bay are a ten-minute walk. My room was nicely decorated and super clean. One of my most precious memories is waking up in the morning to the sounds of nature, birds chirping and waves.
I think of my visit to Sint Maarten/St. Martin with very fond memories, and I am heartbroken by the devastation. Wishing peace, strength and safety to all of the staff.

Flew out a couple days early to move my daughter to the Med school. Stayed in beautiful studio apartment with front porch and sun deck. Everything was clean and comfortable and quiet. Beautiful views!

Will spread the word, fantastic small-feel hotel with caribbean charm and great amenities - unit was fantastic - great views! Food at pool restaurant was absolutely delicious, drinks at the bar were well poured!
