Great place for a conference or wedding

Very comfortable rooms, but choose the king suite with kitchenette for real space if you're going to be here more than a couple of days. Went to a 3-day conference, and Shanty Creek was really, really beautiful with fall colors and lots of places to hike. The small town of Bellaire, MI is about 5 minutes away, but you really feel like you're out in the countryside when staying here. We had very good service from all of the wait staff, as well as housekeeping. They were all polite & friendly, and would definitely return with family.
Amazing Fall Colors

I had a work conference here for 3 days in October and what an amazing place. The views were outstanding, the conference rooms were great (as good as a conference room can be) and the meals were wonderful. The shuttle to and from downtown was an added perk!
Great room top floor facing Lk Bellaire, thanks Carrie T and Mark!

Got the hair of the dog package with golf and lodging and Carrie and Marc upgraded us to the third floor overlooking Lake Bel Air and the ski area was a fantastic Roomwith a cathedral ceiling very large Rome good beds and pillows although a small TV but we were able to watch the Michigan Michigan State game Saturday night October 7, 2017.
Although this building I believe was built by Hilton back in the 60s it is in very good shape and a gorgeous setting we arrive Saturday evening and there were three weddings. So it was busy but we got registered very quickly and thanks to Mark and Carrie we were upgraded on our reservation with the package with golf on the legend to wait third floor floor room overlooking Lake Bel Air which was fantastic with a nice overhang deck. You can tell when I place is Built well because the floors do not make a noise and they are solid and although I am 6'7" and the bathroom is only about 7 foot but still it was OK and upgraded with the granite countertop. The TV was high definition may be a 36 inch but showed the Michigan and Michigan State game very well
The golfing was great and I reported on that on another side the legend and my wife enjoyed it tremendously and it is a very large room and like I said the views are super. The breakfast at the Lakeview is very good with a buffet and kudos to the omelette maker I ate two of them and I did not need me to any lunch a great day and a great time and a great golf package for $69 each hair of the dog package
Not luxury, but comfortable, quiet and well located.

The condos in Shanty Creek have some age on them, and the restaurants are not gourmet food, but the area is beautiful, the golf is great, and the location is wonderful for exploring.....so I would rate Shanty Creek a winner.
We stayed in a condo in Summit Village. It was the lower unit in a 3 high building....the middle was at parking lot level, we walked down to ours, and it was up to the upper level. The view was better the higher you went, but we were fine, with a large lawn, condos, woods and lake in the background.
Our unit was old, but decently kept up and outfitting. It could have used brighter lights in the kitchen and bathroom. The stove was newish and the kitchen was well outfitted. There was a dining table for 4, an easy chair and a new leather sofa. There was a wood fireplace, and plenty of firewood, but no matches or kindling, so we had to buy a butane firestick and fat lighter in town. We had a fire almost every night. The bathroom was, old, but there was plenty of hot water and the towels were ok. The bad was pretty good.
There were a couple of restaurants or grills associated with Shanty Creek...the one at the Lakeview Hotel was the fanciest, but we didn't eat there. There was a casual pizza/pasta place in Summit Village which was ok. It is about an 6 minute drive to Bellaire, and there are a few other places there.
There are 5 golf courses nearby......three really good and two pretty good.
We used Shanty Creek as a base for exploring...we visited Charlevoix, Petosky, Harbor Springs, Traverse City ahd spent overnight on Mackinac Island.
All in all, a good place to stay.
Old charm and very hospitable

The facilities are old and are reminiscent of the 1970's, but the rooms and hotel are kept clean. It was nice to have a restaurant available in the lodge for dining and had wonderful views! We stayed in the spring but I'm sure the views are spectacular in the fall with the colors or in the winter with the snow.
