What People are saying
Beautiful Place, Friendly People

The staff was friendly and accommodating, the resort is very gorgeous. Of all of the resorts I walked past in Bloody Bay, the beach was different (in a good way). The water was always calm at this beach, but just a few meters down the beach there would be waves. The drinks are very good, and they are not stingy with the alcohol. The buffet food is good. Definitely make a reservation for the Lotus Leaf restaurant. This was the best food I have had in a long time. The chefs showcase was also an enjoyable experience. This is ideal for a couple.
The negatives for me were: 1) The road is very noisy. Ask to be roomed towards the back of the road if traffic noisy bothers you. I requested this after my first night, and they granted it. 2) There are a lot of hotel policies that I did not read ahead of time (my fault). I had wanted some friends (who live in Jamaica) to visit me, since I was a solo traveler. The resort would not allow them on property unless we paid for an $120-150 day or night pass. This also applies if you make new friends in town during a night out. For this reason I likely won't stay here again, unless I am traveling with someone.
Lastly, though it says tips included, staff are on salaries of $80 or less per week (so I am told). I feel guilty for not tipping more while I was there.
Birthday Turn up

I am once again pleased with my Home away from Home. Sunset at the palms lives up to its reputation of being the best adult resort in Jamaica. The staff goes above and beyond with being courteous, attentive, respectful and most important the smiles. When, you feel like more of a family member then a guest, you know you have arrived. Thank you for being just YOU!! I will see you next year for another amazing birthday and memories that will last forever!
Another wonderful vacation at Sunset at the Palms!

My husband and I visited SATP for the second time after being lucky to have found it for our last trip in May, 2017. Yes, we went back only six months later! The resort is beautiful, with lush gardens, proudly shown off by the friendly grounds keepers (who are always working hard so hard to keep everything beautiful and they are so willing to answer questions!). The tree houses are private with a balcony to sit and enjoy the gardens. The walk to your room is such a treat, with hummingbirds everywhere during the day and frogs at night. We love the food, as there is always a local influence, along with other options. We love to eat the Jamaican food whenever possible (the curried goat and fruit selections on "Jamaica Night" were outstanding! And the seafood night was the ultimate treat!).
The beach is fantastic, on a protected bay. It is so well maintained, and you never have to fight for a beach chair. The beach side grill offers great food (the jerk burger and fish tacos were our favourites!), and the drinks are definitely not watered down. Security ensures the beach vendors don't bother you and follow the rules, but even they are friendly! Yes, the beach is across the road from the resort, but it is no longer a walk than trying to get through a large resort, and the crossing guard is there to get you across safely (the traffic runs the opposite way from home). We befriended September, the captain of Sea Rasta, a small boat next to the resort. Such a gentleman and friend, and he took us snorkelling and fishing. A nice private experience, and he is so laid back, never rushing us along.
SATP is a small resort, so you never feel like you are just one of the crowd. It is easy to mingle with other guests at the martini bar (our favourite), and we've made friends that we've kept in touch with after visiting. Paul, the "Piano Man" is wonderful and so talented.
Our absolute, most favourite thing about SATP, is the staff. I can't say enough about them. As returning guests, we were welcomed with hugs and time spent "catching up". It truly felt like we were visiting family. From Doraine and Oneil at first arrival, to Loleta, the concierge, Miss Sharon, the resort manager, Carmel in the gift shop, and all of the kitchen staff, (especially chefs Opal and Kenroy) everyone acknowledges you and has friendly words with you. The wait staff and bartenders are outstanding, and it felt like we were among friends at every meeting. A Big shout out to Craig, Kirk, Cornelius, O'Shane, Mr. B, Delroy, Claudette, King, Nepaul, Alex, David, all in the restaurant, coffee and martini bars. And down at the beach to Melissa, Kerry, Esroy, Tevin, and all the life guards and security. I know I'm forgetting some of you (I'm sorry!), but all of you truly made our stays special. We will definitely be back to see all of you again!!
Worth the trip to Sunset

Sunset's reviews are well earned. We loved everything about this beautiful oasis. I would say best suited for couples but a solo traveler or laidback group of friends would not be disappointed. We are Jamaicans living abroad and we wanted a quintessential Jamaican experience, and that is what they delivered, from the amazing food, to the live reggae band each night to the warm, friendly professional service. The grounds are stunning and the beach across the street is worth it. They took care of every request we had, remembered what we liked to drink and stocked our fridge accordingly,. surprised us with a happy birthday sign. .. and so much more. We want to big up Stacey and Alex and Evelena in housekeeping and the girls in the spa and the guys at the pool bar and coffee bar. and Loleta and Meesha.. and Miss Sharon..thank you for making it such a memorable trip!! The locals, Sean and Lisa
Excellent.

Having traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean over the past twenty years, including visiting Negril a number of times, we decided to book a week at Sunset ...we prefer small, adult only properties.
From the moment we walked off our plane at Mobay, excellent service was evident. Club Mo Bay reps. escorted us through customs and the baggage hall. We enjoyed a few drinks and snacks in the Club MoBay lounge and then boarded a bus for the 1.5 hr. trip to the resort.
Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted in the reception area. A seamless process had us quickly into our rooms ...and then enjoying a drink at the lobby bar.
I will leave it to other reviewers to offer a commentary on the physical property itself... we concur that it is a truly beautiful setting, with more than adequate rooms, dining, bar and pool facilities. The private beach on Bloody Bay is very nice.
In our opinion, what sets this property apart from others we have visited over the years is the service. Every staff member we had the pleasure of interacting with was pleasant, accommodating and focused on ensuring that clients needs and wants were met.
Prior to arriving at the Sunset, I had contacted the hotel with some special requests: Loleta, in concierge, exemplified the service we experienced once at the Sunset ...she communicated with us via e mail and ensured that our requests were met.
Loleta of course, exemplified the service we experienced at the hotel. Shannon, Sharon and Stacey, our servers at breakfast and lunch were outstanding. Alex and (Capt.) Kirk in the lobby bar ..."beam me up Scotty" ... were equally competent. Cornelius, our waiter when we dined at the Lotus was attentively superb.
Dining at Sunset at the Palms was excellent. Whether it was breakfast/lunch/dinner at the buffet, lunch at the beach grill, a la carte dining at the Lotus or the Chef's showcase, the variety, quality and presentation of the food was outstanding. We also appreciated the efforts by the resort to ensure that authentic Jamaica cuisine was available at most meals.
Doraine, at the beach bar/grill, ensured that our drink needs and requests while enjoying Bloody Bay were attended to seamlessly.
In the afternoon, we tended to gravitate towards the pool and its bar. Jamie, the towel and pool person, always greeted us by name and with a smile. We observed him constantly interacting with clients to make sure their needs were met ...a nice touch.
During the evening, security staff were evident throughout the resort. Friendly and courteous, they provided clients with a sense of confidence and safety: much appreciated folks.
Would we return to Sunset at the Palms: yes. (In fact, while at the Sunset, we extended our trip by three days.) Superb service. Quality food. A tranquil, adults only property. Safe. We could not ask for more in a Jamaican vacation. Try it: you'll enjoy it.
