What People are saying
It bugs me.

Upon inspection, the room had a bad odor and I lifted the alarm clock only to see a bed bug scurry away. Enough said. Be forewarned this is NOT a place to rest a weary head. The ice machine did not work, either.

On Sept 6, 2016, I booked two rooms for two nights at this hotel at the cost of $165 per night, tax included. When we arrived, the manager could barely speak English. We got to our rooms and the smell was horrible. I'm not sure if it was mold/mildew but it was really bad. We found bugs in our room, the dead bolt would not work, drapes were falling down but the sheets and towels did appear clean. We made a trip to Walmart for disinfection spray and room deodorizer, helped some. The manger did nothing to fix our problems. I contact the city of Seward, Expedia and the hotel, nothing was done. DO NOT STAY THERE.
Third world conditions

I really cannot conceive how the present owners have let this property detiorate to such squalid conditions. Our room was not cheap, 110$ for the night. 2 very old queen beds with bed covers that should be burned for health reasons. Our room had such a string odor of mold and mildew I do not know how it passes any health inspection if there is such a thing for hotels. The bathroom was not clean and the room carpet was filthy. We kept our socks on except when showering and we wore long sleeves and sweats to bed. The shower dribbled water and smelled strange to me. Outside our door about twenty feet away there were about 30 old mattresses just piled behind the building. It had rained heavily that day and the odor wafting from them was putrid. I am not so sure there were not small mammals living in them. I mentioned to the owner that those mattresses could be a health hazard and he got very angry with me and came frim behind the desk and said I owed him 10$ for my pet dog staying in the room. I told him I thought that I had already paid that with my credit card as I had called earlier in the day to confirm I would be having a pet. This is no mangy mutt, she is groomed often and does not have any bugs, but after One night in that hotel we all probably do. He said no you pay me 10$ now! I rarely carry a lot of cash but I did have a 50$ bill and a 20$ bill in my wallet, but i was darned if I was going to give him more money, especially with the condition of that room. I said well i have to go and as I went to leave out the door he closely followed me out and stared after my vehicle as I pulled away. My wife asked me what happened and I told her a misunderstanding. She said "what he misunderstood that this is The USA and not a third world country?" We both have sore throats and we immediately showered when we got home and left our clothes outside. The dog is staying in the back bedroom for the time being. I am burned that this guy runs such a shoddy business in a town with only 3 hotels(the other two have way better reviews) and also for trying to shake me down for 10 more bucks. Better not get a "clean up bill" on my credit card or I am protesting that. He needs to close and do renovations and clean up or sell it to some one who will.
Ask to see your towels before you pay!

It was graduation at Concordia so I knew it would be tough to get a room in Seward. The room was not great but the worse thing was the towel had yellow spots on it, so I turnded it in for a new one and that one had yellow spots too. (Stains) I then looked at all my towels and they were all the same way so I didn't even ask again. My wife said smell the towel. It smelled ok so I used it. I told the manager about it at checkout, he said nothing.
Absolutely disgusting

Lesson learned: ALWAYS read the reviews before booking!!!! This is undoubtedly the most disgusting hotel on the planet. The room had a rancid odor, no toilet paper, no cover plate on the electric outlet, rust stains around the "refrigerator" and in the bathroom next to the toilet, fasteners were painted over on the walls where pictures were removed, ice machine was broken and the front desk man, who was extremely rude from minute 1, went into the back room of the office and chiseled out a few ice cubes for us, the assortment of bath linen ranging from towels to washclothes ranged from off-white to light brown with stains on them.... I could go on and on but to put it bluntly, we stayed in room 127 for exactly 47 minutes before we left. We figure the $87 we paid was the cost of a lesson learned. Don't make the same mistake we did. This place must be shut down.
