Some things good, some ok. More 4 star
lou33333on 16/06/2017 23:32This is a review from a mum and 8 yr old holidaying for 4 days at the Sunset resort.
We arrived at the hotel at around 1pm. We were the only ones to get off the minibus after the short 20 minute journey from the airport, so the reception was clear.
There was no massive welcome. No glass of wine or juice and no 'hello, welcome to the hotel!', it was a basic check in with no big smiles or greetings. We got our wrist bands and a map of the hotel, she handed us our room and towel cards and that was it. I had to ask about safes and wifi!
There was no bell boy summoned, we were just instructed we were on the second floor and the room number was in the card. Bit poor really for a so called 5 star.
The hotel looks just ok from the front perspective (main road), but once inside and around the back, you see the full scale of the place. This is a big hotel with very posh reception areas.
Once in the room, we were very happy with most aspects. We had a 1 bedroomed apartment which had plenty of room for us 2. There is a kitchen with a built in fridge freezer, a lovely big, comfortable bed with lovely soft bedding and plenty of fluffy pillows and a nice marble bathroom with bath and shower. We would later find out that the shower went boiling hot and freezing cold on its own, so we had to keep stepping in and out of it. The balcony was large, but the view was rubbish. I can't really blame the hotel for this, as I didn't pay for a pool view, but please be warned, there are only 2 views in this hotel, the pool/sea/beach or the main road and a disused concrete building with graffiti all over it. Due to this we didn't use the balcony.
Due to the time of year, there was no problem at all getting a sunbed. Try to get a bed on the opposite side to the hotel, as in the afternoon, the shade of the massive hotel covers one side. I don't know if its because it's June and the pool hasn't had time to warm up but...it was FREEZING! My little boy loves the pool and usually won't get out, however, he didn't spend anywhere near as much time in it as he usually does on holiday. Very disappointing.
The food was nice. There was a good variety but only for a week. You might not want buffet food for any longer, but as it goes, it was good quality and the restaurant staff worked hard bless them. One thing I really liked about this hotel is the fact that they would give a take away tray if you didn't want a full restaurant meal, you could just take a few boiled eggs and fruit for example to eat by the pool. You very rarely find this. Another fantastic thing was the cleanliness. I noticed that everyone cleaned up after themselves. The other holiday makers always put empty plastic cups in the bin after using them by the pool. This hotel was spotless all over in fact and there were no mosquitoes either.
There were several areas you couldn't use the all inclusive band and there were areas which didn't exist like the juice bar. The pastries place was just a few trays from the buffet of dessert pastries, which were average.
The hotel was very quiet in the evening which suited me, but nobody approached about kids club, in fact I was t sure where it was or who ran it! And I certainly didn't see them doing any activities. The adult entertainment team didn't push themselves on you, which is good, but they were always milling about if you wanted them. I did see them promoting and doing various activities with other holidaymakers.
On the day before we left I asked if we could keep the room on for extra time, but it wasn't available. Fair enough, but at least we got to keep out all inclusive bands on and could hang out on the comfy sofas, of which there are plenty around the 2 reception floors.
All in all, I'd say this was a beautiful hotel, serving mostly Russians and Irish with good quality food and a nice beach. The reception staff need to work on their welcome technique though and this will never be a 5 star without pandering to the clientele a little more. There is potential to be AMAZING. But please, warm up that pool!!!
Beautiful appartment
disappointedvalon 16/06/2017 14:54after arriving at 1.30am, was shown to apartment in Alpha, unpacked, and thought this is not very good, not 5 star, in the morning went to reception and said, am I wrong, there is only one bedroom, and the other beds are in the lounge?, when they read my booking form they were really apologetic, and said you are right we will rectify it, repacked and was shown to a 2 bed in Sigma, which was massive, 2 bathrooms, 3 showers, and modern décor. They also said we could have a free massage each for our trouble. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble, spotlessly clean apartment, towels changed each day, and also beds. The only person that was extremely rude was the pool attendant (re changing towels), I reported him, some time later a bottle of sparkling wine was sent up to us. Food in Sigma was usually tepid, and if you like pork chicken you be ok, no beef n any form. It did tend to be really noisy in the sigma restaurant, hundreds of children, sometimes screaming. During the day as we were all inclusive we went to the Delta 2 for lunch, much better, same food but much more relaxed, and more room (less people). Although they were quite full, we always managed to get umbrellas and beds by the pool. The beach is lovely, but do not use chairs under bamboo canopies unless you want to pay £50 levs a day. The others are free (for all inclusive) The Spa is fantastic, biggest we have seen, My hubby had a kings massage which he loved. Nina whom works there is really good, and can speak really good English. would we go again, as we have been there twice no, probably not next time to an adults only hotel. the weather was good, apart from 2 days, 1 was torrential rain.
Rude staff
nmurphy5293on 13/06/2017 13:22We arrived for a week holiday, we booked for a sea view apartment and paid €80 extra for this and was told upon arrival this was not included, our balcony faced a main motorway.. breakfast was very minimal and staff were very rude, we particularly had a problem with Karina in our reception as my partner went to ask at reception two days before we were to depart where we were to go for the bus transfer to the airport which we had paid for with the hotel, she was extremely rude and told us firstly to come to reception at 12pm even though our flight was 12.30pm that day, when we notified her of this she then said they would call us in our apartment when to come down'
For the price of this resort for the week it is not worth it, there is only 1 particularly good restaurant (the Italian) and no bar as such.
Weekend
Nik Ton 11/06/2017 21:08Clean, beautiful and good atmosphere. Near on the beach. Not good breakfast and drinks. Чисто и красиво, с добра атмосфера. Закуската отговаря на 3 звезден хотел. Перфектно отстояние от плажа. Достатъчни места за паркиране. Услужлив персонал. Добра климатизация.
Beautiful hotel
Steven Yon 28/05/2017 10:10I am currently on the final day of my holiday at this wonder hotel. We stayed B&B and the stay has been truly memorable.Friendly, attentive staff from the reception to the cleaning staff. Is a little more expensive for drinks than other local places but you would expect to pay more because of the location. Will be back very soon
