I've stayed at this place a few times and it is always clean an staff is nice. It's not on a higher end but it is not bad for the money. I do wish the breakfast was open long than 9a.

The Super 8 in Athens was a nice venue to stay at while in Athens, Ohio. The beds were comfortable and clean as were the rugs and room. The breakfast was okay, but could have had eggs or another food other than just waffles as an option to cold cereal and toast.

Our room was cozy and had a nice soft bed. It was a clean and comfortable space. We did have to keep the curtains closed, though, as our view was of two rusted out delivery trucks parked along the fence between the hotel and truck dealership next door.
I had booked a "King Suite with Hot Tub" but was disappointed to find that the room wasn't any larger than my friend's King Bed room. The tub was a whirlpool soaker bath, not the hot tub I had pictured in my mind. Other than that difference in the bathroom sizes, my friend's room had a reading chair, while our "suite" had a small round table and two accompanying chairs. I felt the labeling of the rooms on the website was a bit misleading.
This location offers breakfast each morning but we didn't take advantage of it because we were meeting college friends for all our meals near the Ohio University campus.
Be aware that hotel prices skyrocket any weekend the Ohio University Bobcats football team has a home game. This is true for all hotels within the Athens vicinity.

Don't get stuck when visiting Ohio University. We were visiting son at Ohio University for a performance he was participating in. We needed a pet friendly hotel. We were charged a $28 fee/night for our pug. The management was very abrupt when we entered the lobby and stated that the dog was not allowed to enter through the lobby, was not allowed on the front grounds and was not allowed in the room unless we were there too. I explained that we had a concert to attend and we could not take the dog and he very rudely told us to leave the dog in the car. He did refund our reservation and luckily we were able to get a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express that was truly dog friendly and actually nicer accommodations.

Completely overpriced for what we got. When we left for the day we put the sign on our door to have the room “extra clean” and when we returned after being gone all day and wanting to shower and climb into bed, the room hadn’t been touched. No clean towels or sheets-nothing. Very disappointed considering we paid a LOT of money per night. You’d be better off sleeping in your car.
