What People are saying

Rooms for Improvement, as soon as possible

Tang L on 15/05/2017 04:26

Had been staying in this hotel for quite some time for all previous trips to Sungai Petani. Decided to stop staying at this premise when having rashes and skin allergy.
Recent trip, the newer hotels came fully booked and resorted to this premise and turned out this premise had deteriorated - from bad to worst.
The room was dusty and smelly, with dead roach in toilet. Aging room with old furniture with minimal maintenance. The bath tub was utterly dirty with stains.
Checkin took a long time though not much queue at the counter.
Breakfast was a disaster.
Plus point is the huge swimming pool.

This premise should consider a massive face lift and renovation.

Good staff

when I checked in there was difficult to open the room door. There is a housekeeping staff wearing orange shirt I am not mistaken on name tag name ain. very friendly and asked what could she help. I tell my room door 408 can not open. then she called engenering to come immediately to checks and immediately she decided to change my room to room 410 and asked me in advance there will be staff who will be sending the key. She also helped me raise my beg. I gave some money to her but she refused and said she helped him sincerely and as a responsibility to help customers who check in here.

There are some things I do not like but because staff are very kind and make friends I feel really happy to stay here.
I will come back..

Just an OK Hotel

Run down room. Suggest to upgrade the room because this hotel has potential for family/group stay.
Better breakfast options you can find elsewhere outside the hotel - we didn't go out since the room package already included breakfast.

Plus Point:
Big swimming pool.
Family friendly hotel
Free parking
Free wifi
Attentive staff

Overall it just an average hotel for one or two night stay.

Avoid at all costs

Upon arrival it took an age to be registered even though we were the only 2 rooms at reception. The receptionist, two confused gentlemen, insisted we needed to pay, even though we were paid in advance. They gave us no clues as to how to get to our rooms (the hotel has many corridors and signage is not much help). The room smelt strongly of mould and urine. The bathroom floor had lots of long black hair stuck to the corners and the bath was literally peeling at my feet whilst I tried to shower. Amenities are very basic, one has to share a small tube of shower gel between the sink and the shower, not even a bar of soap.
I went to take a swim (6.45pm) in the great and clean swimming pool only to be told it was closing early due to a wedding function. Somewhat unfair to the rest of the full house of guests who were enjoying and had paid for the privilege to use the pool. The lifts inside the hotel were flooded with water from the swimmers not bothering to dry themselves after their swim not any sign of housekeeping to dry the floors as they were still flooded when I came back 2 hours later.

Came back at 9.30pm to the worst and loudest Karaoke spilling out over the very serious loud speaker system, in the hotel garden, that I have ever heard, it was worse than cats fighting in a back alley, and certainly louder. I switched on my TV but the speakers way over powered the volume and the TV reception was so bad I soon gave up. At 11.30pm and desperate for sleep I called the lobby only to be informed they were going to stop there and then. At 12.30am the drunken singing was still blasting through the system and the entire hotel had to endure 2 young men, screaming into the microphones, the duty manager clearly inept and incapable of doing their job. Finally at 1am I got to sleep, but, not for long.Oh yes, 7.45am the loudspeakers start up again, bolting me and the rest of the hotel upright, for morning aerobics, whether we like too join in or not. 8 ladies doing some kind of aerobics was in fact quite fascinating to watch. By 8am the pool is full of non guests and their children allowed to have day passes to use the pool, so I gave up trying to have a swim.
Breakfast is dismal, a tiny selection, synthetic florescent jam and tea so weak it was not possible to add a drop of milk. My colleague looked at the breakfast and went out to have Roti Cenai instead.

In short, the adage that you get what you pay for is correct, and for 1 night I thought it would be okay, but this hotel is below basic at very best. The manager should hold their head in disgrace.

If I had to struggle for positive comments I would mention the swimming pool, clean lobby area and the young female waitress staff at breakfast.

Maintenance at 2 morning

HO S on 12/02/2017 19:13

At 2 in the morning which is still night time, maintenance works on the room next to my room is being carried out. I initially phoned the front desk but no one answered. I had to walk down to make a complaint. It took another complaint before the worker stopped. Shouldn't maintenance works be carried out at a more suitable time ? What is the logic of chasing out a guest since the hotel is not getting a five star status ?
