We were 7 adults n 2 toddlers n did not want to spend exorbitantly on our 3 days weekend vacation...our calling was answered by Tabor cottage...landour cantt. is indeed one of the most beautiful hill stations u can find around Dehradun...the cottage has an inhouse kitchen with a chef who can make simple food like aloo paranthas, eggs, sandwiches etc. for meals u can order from Emily's (rokeby) n clock town cafe - all these r managed by Mars catering only...I being on a particular diet used to get my diet food made by the chefs...they were courtesies friendly n very helpful...the property has only 5 rooms n 2 lodge n is usually packed...the common living room was very good with a television, books, newspaper n a French window from where u can see entire landour, part of mussourie n Dun...it being situated in sister bazaar we were able to walk to Lal tibba, char dukaan n shop from local handicraft shops...we also travelled to happy valley, which is a small place inhabited by Tibetans - beautiful houses, a school n a monastery, very serene place. I can't wait longer to go there again...the staff, service n property were excellent - I cud do yoga early in the morning there too 😊

Great place to stay and unwind! Loved the 4 nights we stayed. The place itself is located very close to 4 Dukan, Sisters Bazaar, Lal Tibba and Devdar (a gorgeous and delightful 150 yr old restaurant beneath a 400 yr old tree!). All places mentioned are walking distance from Tabor. View wise - none of the rooms have a direct view till u step into the main dwg room...but some great sitting places for views otherwise. Rooms are big, and clean. Restrooms have got water 24 hours. Staff takes very good care and the food made in the kitchen is like home made. One can also choose to eat at Emily's in Rokeby. Awesome food and ambience. Very tastefully done.
Once in Landour, please avoid Mussourie and other touristy destinations,...avoid Kempty falls like the plague! You can spend all your time walking the streets of Landour. The drive upto Labdour is scary (esp if you have a new car)...lanes are narrow with oncoming traffic barely missing your car. All in all a delightful vacation!

What a treat to stay at Tabor Cottage! It was a haven from the hustle and bustle of holidaying in India and the height meant that temperatures were cooler. The cottage had a rustic charm with all the comforts of home. We loved the ambience and the staff were attentive and friendly. There were 4 of us and they happily brought in another mattress to the 3-bed room. Simple Indian meals were enjoyed when we didn't want to go out for dinner. We loved wandering the walks and lanes in the area and winding down (and up) to the village below with its bazaar-like atmosphere. We enjoyed eating at Rokeby Manor, and the Clock Tower? ... lower down the valley where there was a variety of international foods available. We'd thoroughly recommend it!
Best Place to Unwind

This property was booked by our son to join us and give us all a nice break from the humdrum of life.
We were impressed that though the entire stay was paid whilst online booked,Tabor cottage staff called us to inquire what time we expect to arrive.
When our vehicle broke down enroute 2-3kms from the property, & we called to inform our delay, we were sent a vehicle to pick us up and the driver offered to get the vehicle repaired or pick it up later.
The accommodation was simple and comfortable. We stayed in the Blue Room.
The support staff was good, quiet and non intrusive.
The lounge has a decent collection of books and magazines to help one enjoy the solitutude.
I loved the window ledge where one could curl up with a good book and watch the sunset.
The kitchen facilities are basic. Not much choice for breakfast or snacks in case one feels like munching while relaxing.
Remember to make your mobile calls as the network is really really bad and you are lucky if you can talk to somebody. [Maybe this is a good way of unwinding}
Would I like to go back??? Yes. with a camera, a bagful of books and my tablet to catch up on reading and writing.
Thank you to the staff for their hospitality.
Wonderful cottage that gives you awesome memories of a hillstay

Amazing location and very creatively done up to retain all the cottage bits that is the USP of the whole place.....along with this was Gautamji dishing out delightful wonders from his little kitchen and that too with effortless grace. We really enjoyed the hospitality of each and everyone who made the stay for all 16 of us aged between 1.5 -----70 years not easy to achieve i must say.............
