This former convent building is a terrific base for activities around Te Anau, Milford Sound and fiordland, and the service is first class. History, antique artefacts, books, free tea / coffee or wine/beer in the library, WiFi, cooked to order breakfast, help and advice with activities, friendly staff - this is the place to stay if you're staying in Te Anau.
The Lodge has expansive grounds and panoramic views towards the lake and peaks of fiordland. There's plenty of parking and if the weather's good its a nice walk into central Te Anau for dinner or shopping. We loved our stay at Te Anau Lodge and will come again when we're in this part of NZ.
Excellent

Te Anau Lodge was fantastic. The rooms are lovely, service excellent, food wonderful. From the comfortable sitting room with tea, cake and wine to the hearty breakfast with white chocolate and raspberry muffins to take away every little thing was excellent. Highly recommend.

We stayed in the main house and in my opinion it was very nice, full of history, treasure things, with very comfortable library with free vine and beer, cookes, coffe and tea. My room was very big, comfortable, clearn, with perfect towels and toileters. Breakfast was absolutely perfect. The hotel is a little bit outside the town but in walkable distance. Karl was extremely helpful and nice.
A few negative things to me was a price of the hotel and absolutely slow wifi which was impossible to use in my room. In my opinion it is not worth to spend a lot of money for one night stay in Te Anau.
A converted convent which we absolutely loved!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. It is a converted convent that they restored and kept all of the original features. We stayed in the Vestry room which was absolutely the best! They also have a library which is a wonderful relaxing venue where they offer free wine, water etc as well as desserts. Don't miss the carrot cake. It is to die for! The grounds were beautiful and it is close to town. They include a breakfast each morning with your stay. The manager was super friendly and talked to us about the history of the convent and how they moved it to its current location. The lodge is quaint and my husband and I would highly recommend it. Don't miss out!
Wonderful stay in this historic house

A wonderful peaceful place to stay, beautiful grounds and interesting history. The rooms are small with no tea and coffee making facilities but there is a large, comfortable shared lounge with tea and coffee making facilities plus biscuits, homemade cake and an honesty bar. Friendly, helpful staff and lovely breakfasts with delicious homemade muffins.
