En route home from OBX to NJ we decided to find a stopover. Searching Cape Charles on the north side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge led us to this gem.
The Innkeeper, Mike, welcomed us on short notice. He showed us around to see the downstairs den and expansive porch before showing us to our second floor room with en suite bath and wall of French doors to our own private deck. Very cozy, we already felt we’d lucked out.
Come morning, we could see the view from our deck and the whole rear of property. Wow! Huge back lawn garden with a hammock, chairs to relax in and a stair down to a private beach. Truly stellar.
After a drizzly beach walk with Mike’s giant umbrellas, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast, chatting with Mike and other guests. We headed out for the rest of our drive rested and recharged and feeling lucky to have found a great stopover spot. We will be back!

We stayed and the baywood for labor day weekend. It was such an amazing place. We stayed in the lighthouse room it had a balcony. We watched the sunset from the balcony it was an amazing view. Mike, the owner, had a wealth of knowledge about history of the eastern shore. He served a great breakfast every morning. The bed and breakfast was very comfortable, it had a great private beach. The backyard had lots of great seating, a hammock and a beautiful view of the water. Will definitely be back.

This was my second time at the Baywood and it was like coming home! Driving under the canopy of trees to the house, you enter a completely different world- nature's quiet beauty. I was able to have the same beautiful room and view. Thank you, Mike for creating this amazing getaway. Una casa bellissima con i colazione deliziose. Sei un amico meraviglioso! Grazie mille!

We stayed here one night on the first leg of a two day drive to our final vacation destination. The accommodations were quaint and clean. The breakfast was great. The views were spectacular! We wished we could have extended our stay. We will definitely return.

If you are an aficionado of the Chesapeake Bay, with its breezy bluffs and succulent sunsets in a secluded wooded area, your dream will come true here! Within a short distance of Eastern Shore Wildlife Refuge and the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel Bridge, this destination combines the best of the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay! If you are looking for attractions and tourists, this is not your place. If you are looking for relaxation, beauty and scrumptious breakasts, YOU have found your dream location. Choose one of the 2 rooms with the outside decks (they are connected by posts, so you may see neighbors out there, but decks are spacious enough and breezes strong enough for you to feel alone. One thing we did not realize- there were no amenities that we noticed like shampoo or soap. We usually carry extras we receive in other places, just in case!
