Generous portions of well cooked, home-made food with a good selection of drinks. A lovely traditional pub styled B&B. The new management team - a lovely couple - were very friendly and helpful and I'm sure will see the pub become even more popular. Get in while you can... :-)

Needing to have a last minute break with my dog, I found The Blacksmiths on a Pet Friendly Accommodation website. I was lucky enough to find they had a room and arrived around 6pm. The pub was inviting and both myself and dog had a friendly welcome from the landlady. As I was travelling alone I opted to stay in the pub for the evening, which had a fine selection of local ales. The food was good and plentiful, bar staff were friendly and went out of their way to make sure I was okay. The pub had a great feel to it and I didn't feel awkward as a woman on my own in there at all. The room was representative of rooms above a pub and good value for the cost. The bed was comfy and everything was clean and tidy. Breakfast was great (especially the mushrooms!) and catered for vegetarian and meat eater alike. Even the dog got a sausage breakfast. The hosts were friendly and helpful, giving me directions to a great woodland dog walk nearby. I'd definitely recommend the pub and everything about it. The only downside for noise sensitive people might be that the pub is on a roundabout but this did not affect my enjoyment at all and it was very quiet during the night. Thanks for a lovely evening. We will be back.

Just had a lovely meal. Freshly cooked and very appetising. We were given a friendly welcome and the service was excellent. Although there were quite a few people in there, we didn't age to wait too long for our meal to arrive. Would thoroughly recommend.

In July a young Chinese lady and myself stopped here, on the way to Heathrow Airport, on the 'off-chance.' When we discovered the Sunday roast lunch the Chinese young lady insisted on having it - we were not disappointed. The lunch was a mountain of food: Quality roast meat (I had lamb, the Chinese young lady had turkey - there was an excellent choice of meats); roast and boiled potatoes; Yorkshire pudding; four vegetables and gravy. There was so much quality food that I was, sadly, unable to finish mine (the Chinese young lady finished hers).
Service was friendly and efficient.

Nice looking pub from the outside , but no ambience inside has we where the only ones eating on Thursday evening and only ,3 or 4 , other people in for a drink friendly , helpful staff which made the pub feel more welcoming ,food was not that exciting.
