What People are saying

Third time WAS NOT the charm!

NEURONS2 on 19/11/2017 02:03

This is my third trip to the BodyHoliday. I was excited to celebrate my birthday here with my daughter and friends we made last year and the year before.
We enjoyed the classes and spa treatments as usual. We love the fact that we can workout hard and have a relaxing massage and enjoy the beauty of St Lucia.
As always I log into the webroom online to announce if we’re celebrating something special and that I’m allergic to shellfish.
On my birthday we arrived at Tao. Not only did I mention to the lady seating us and to our server, my allergy. My daughter did as well. I ordered a chicken spring roll. Someone else ordered spring rolls with shrimp. I started to eat my food and noticed that it did not taste like chicken. I picked up a spring roll and lo and behold, there was shrimp. I had my epipen and I immediately took prednisone. We advised the staff of the terrible error. They apologized and said it was “a serving error”. No kidding Sherlock!!! I thank God I had no significant reaction. They really need to take care, the next person my go into anaphylactic shock and die.
We also made reservations for Windows. I did not remember that there was a theme night and when I made the reservations, it was never mentioned either...you guessed it Seafood night. Instead of leaving, I had to pay for a different meal which did not include the inclusive seafood. Had I known, we could’ve gone a different day or someplace else. $65 I should not have to pay.
We also had an issue with the airconditioning. Ours went out Friday night so I called the following morning. The maintenance man came out quickly. He said he’d be back at 10am. We left the room and when we came back, the AC was still not working. I called several times and several different people were to contact me. Finally later that evening, we were moved to a different room supposedly with working AC. Well when we got there, it did not work either. Now this is about 12 hours after my initial call and it seemed that they were unaware that their AC plant was down. I’m sure if they had known the plant was down, they would not have moved us and our 5 bags for our 10 day stay to another room. We were given 2 large fans. The AC was “fixed” by Monday evening. It was warmer in our room than outside. There was a terrible smell emanating through the room after fixing their system. I awoke 2 days with migraines because of the humidity and the smell. I finally spoke to a manager. He offered apologies and nothing else. I spent a little under $16,000 (included my airfare) for this trip. If you read through the trip advisor reviews, there have been intermittent issues with the AC since 2015. A partial refund or non-inclusive spa treatment or something should’ve been offered. I came to enjoy my 10 day vacation and relax. I didn’t come to be inconvenienced for 2-3 days with no AC in a room I paid to have AC (I would understand if there was an act of God that caused the problem but it’s been an ongoing problem since at least 2015 per old Trip Advisor reviews) and to be given food I clearly stated I was allergic to. I didn’t feel that the Bodyholiday appreciated me as a returning guest. I travel out of the country at least twice in a year and had planned on the BodyHoliday being one of those destinations yearly; however if they don’t care about what happens to me as a guest perhaps I should reconsider.
I also come to a Caribbean island to experience some of the culture. It appears the British patrons prefer music other than Caribbean music and it is not played much there.
I do plan on going back to St. Lucia but I’m not sure if I’ll stay here again and that kinda saddens me because I have had good experiences there but why should I be loyal to an establishment that doesn’t seem interested in providing me with what I paid for (AC and feeling confident I’m not eating something that might kill me especially when they’ve been made aware)?

Wow!

So I've been all around the world, to many places, and this has to be one of my favourites.

The location is great. I'd say the beach and sea are not the best I've had in the Caribbean but they are good.

The hotel caters extremely well for solo travellers. You meet at the bar and then are given a communal table.

Food, drinks and entertainment are all superb. The included treatments are great and the activities world leading.

A really unique offering!!

excellent

Anniversary trip to The Bodyholiday Nov 4-11th

Kinghm on 15/11/2017 18:34

My hubby and I just returned from the Bodyholiday three days ago and we have just booked to return in April 2018! I guess that tells you how awesome this place is, but I’ll outline some details for anyone considering going there.

Pre-trip – there is an awesome web portal that you can use to start creating an awesome vacation, as soon as you have booked. In this portal, you can select what activities interest you, you can highlight any special events/dates that you are celebrating (we went for our 20th wedding anniversary), you can book side trips (we did the 110 foot waterfall repelling…quite an experience), you can schedule your daily spa treatments (the afternoon times go quickly, so I’d recommend that you book these well before you arrive), you can ask for reservations at Windows or Tao and you can even select the type of pillow that you want (trust me…..well worth doing!!!). The responsiveness of their staff is amazing and they go out of their way to accommodate any request that you make so that your vacation is absolutely perfect.

Pre-resort travel – we flew with Air Canada and arrived in St Lucia early afternoon. As a special treat for my hubby, I had arranged to fly by helicopter to the airport closest to the resort, which cuts travel time down from about 2 hours to 13 min on the helicopter and a 15 min car ride. Unfortunately we had to wait 45 minutes at the airport to catch the helicopter as they were really busy, so all in all, we didn’t get to the resort that much faster, but my hubby finally got to fly in a helicopter!

Arrival – the arrival at the resort was awesome. They greet you with a cold towel and drink and take you right to your room (you fill in the paperwork and drop it off at the front desk within the next 24 hours). We had booked a luxury oceanfront room and to our surprise, they had upgraded us to a two-bedroom suite, which was beautiful and they had left a piece of chocolate cake with “happy anniversary” written on it! We didn’t really use the sitting room much and weren’t in our room for long anyway, so we are booking a regular room on our next trip. The upgrade was totally unexpected and a wonderful surprise though.

The activities – where to start?! There is a lot to do here and there are classes that range from the beginner to the very experienced exerciser. We are not really into fitness that much, but we both did the aqua fit class each day, my hubby played pool and beach volleyball every day and I did an intro yoga and intro Pilates class and worked out in the very well equipped gym as well. The only thing that is important to know, is that a lot of the activities are scheduled in the morning, so if you like to sleep in, you may end up missing out on some very fun classes. The Bodyguards, who teach the classes, are amazing and they make each class fun, informal but surprisingly challenging (they do encourage you to modify as needed and to go at your own pace).

The spa – given the small size of the resort, I was blown away at the size of the spa with over 30 treatment rooms. We had a variety of included treatments and all were absolutely amazing. They don’t try to upsell you on the treatments that are extra and the level of service that you get is as good (if not better) than any spa that I have been to in the Toronto area. The downside is that you miss that daily massage when you get home!!!!!

The food – my hubby and I are total foodies!!!! We have also been to a lot of “5 star” resorts in the Caribbean and I think this is the category where the Bodyholiday blew every other place completely out of the water! We did the 7 course French tasting menu at Windows with wine parings (this costs extra…. but SO worth it) and it was delicious. The portions are small but packed full of flavor. We also had two dinners at Tao and they were also amazing. At every restaurant, they offer the regular menu and a menu with alternatives at a small cost. Even at the regular Cariblue restaurant, the included food was divine and the service spectacular. There are just options if you want to indulge even more. For lunch, my recommendation is to go to the grill, as there’s a wide range of salads, wraps and healthy smoothies waiting for you!

The wine – we both had a wine tasting on our first day ($11 each and you then get that credited off of a bottle if you chose to buy one - we bought at bottle of champagne for our anniversary dinner at Tao and also an amazing California red for a dinner at Cariblue). The Sommelier’s at this resort are top notch. Their knowledge of wine is remarkable and we learned a lot about the paring of wine and food. Whether you indulge in the 7 course tasting menu or just order something off of the menu, they are happy to suggest a wine to pare with your dinner and they take the time to explain the wine (and it’s history) to you. The attention that they give you is exceptional.

The extra little things – there are so many little things that you may not notice, but help to create and sustain the atmosphere there. The turndown service at night that includes a non-caffeine tea and cookies, the replenishment of the mini bar, the matts that are left beside your bed at night that say “goodnight” and “good morning” depending on whether you are getting in or out of the bed, the room service that is available in the morning (coffee on the balcony to the sound of the waves), the water bottles that they give you so that you can easily keep hydrated, the t-shirts that they give you…it just goes on and on with little surprises and nice touches at every turn.

There’s little wonder that the vast majority of people there have been before (over 80% I was told). The overall experience was well beyond anything we have encountered anywhere before (including on cruises) and I honestly can’t imagine going anywhere else now. In fact, there’s only 155 days until we go back in the spring…..not that we’re counting or anything!!!!

Great R & R week!

All inclusive, seclusion, relaxation is what The Body Holiday is all about! 1 week all inclusive with a spa treatment a day! The included Spa treatments were OK but the Spa Clinic was Awesome!! Love Elizabeth and Samson!! Professional, honest and a wealth of information on skin care and products!! Amazing treatments with instant results - Great classes, water aerobics are tough but fun! great resort to back into a fit and healthier lifestyle. Great wait staff - room was dated (did not get the updated room) certain after a full renovation, this resort would be a favorite! Wish the meals can be a little more creative - esp. breakfast/lunch/tea - seems to almost similar for a week's stay but overall a great place, great memories and felt well rested when I got home! :D
