One night stay

In a nutshell room was a bit tired with the smallest tv I have ever seen. However clean and bed comfortable. Food great with a memorable breakfast. Younger waitresses were fantastic with nothing too much trouble. Not replicated by some of the older ones however! Also parking can be a problem close to the pub. A typical lakeland inn which at £52 was a fair price.

Enjoyable meal

We booked a table at this small pub and are glad that we did as we really enjoyed our meal. The welcome was warm, in contrast to a couple of other local pubs we had been to. And the wall decoration, particularly the rallying Nova GTE, was interesting.

Although we’d booked a table they volunteered to change our seat to a quieter table because the bar area was noisy. That was good of them, and actually if we’d been sat in the bar area behind a noisy group at the bar we might have felt differently about our meal.

We had gammon and chips and sea bass with dauphinois potatoes. Both were just as we hoped and we polished the lot off. It was reasonably lively when we went in. There was a quiz later but we were a bit tired so didn’t stay but I’m sure it was great.

Would recommend this pub as the best out of a number we went to in the Troutbeck/Penruddock area.

Made very welcome

Walked 2 miles from a nearby town on a fine Sunday afternoon. We had not booked but were made very welcome & enjoyed some lovely food and a few drinks. Only down side was that we could not get a taxi so had to leave before it got dark so missed the band. We had a very enjoyable afternoon .

Great place to stay

Booked 3 night stay. Great little room, clean and tidy, pub was a hive of activity. This place is obviously the centre of the village. Food was great, good portions, the diet starts now we are back. The owners were away and the place was left in the safe hands of Kate, who did a great job, looked after us well as did all the staff. Would definitely stay here again

Great little pub

We tried this pub for lunch and dinner.
We stopped here for a snack at lunchtime on our first day in Cumbria had a pint and a sandwich.
The sandwiches are mega hand cut ham or cheese on fresh bread,we was on our way to where we were staying and were given direction and advice about the area.
We returned to have dinner later and had a well cooked and hot meal.
The menu is a bit limited but the staff are pleasent and helpful.
