What People are saying

Overpriced accommodation, poor rooms.

Julia D on 09/08/2017 09:05

We stayed for 2 nights in a twin room. There is a row of rooms that are for guests situated behind the pub. They are dated, dark, damp and have not been refurbished for a long time (or so it appears). The weather was chilly and I couldn't find any heating, even the bathroom radiator didn't work. The description online is deceptive, and the owners were nowhere to be seen. They need to address issues with the rooms. The manageress Laura worked hard to keep us comfortable. The food in the pub was pricy but ok. Breakfast wasn't served until 9am at weekends, so if you were needing to attend an event, an earlier breakfast wasn't an option. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Excellent Sunday roast

We visited on Sunday 16th July and sat outside.
Had an excellent roast beef dinner, really nicely cooked and presented.
Some confusion over the bill when I came to pay, I think they mixed up table numbers!
Would recommend, we visit frequently, food and service is always good.

EPIC!

Stayed for one night at the start of the month, first thoughts of the room... SWEET! Very nicely made with epic beds! ;) Had dinner and drinks in the bar and had literally the most lit burger of my life, definitely one for the Bros! Staff were absolute legends (with some quality banter) and the chef clearly knew his stuff; Bae had an amazing fish and chips - all washed down with some beautiful beverages (or two hehe). Puddings again smashed it out the park! Chilled in the bar for a couple of hours with some more bevs, greatest shame was that the staff were forced to close at a set time because of stringent locals (BOOO!) Full English for breakfast was absolutely lit (again) and fairly priced... so no complaints there.
All in all an epic stay!

To paraphrase the Terminator... The Bull, "I'LL BE BACK"

Adequate, but very overpriced @ £89pn. Check your bill before leaving!

Booked two nights to attend family wedding. Rooms very basic and in much need of a makeover. Beds uncomfortable, but at least the sheets were clean. Full English breakfast booked at £12.00 per person. Arrived for breakfast and asked if we required anything else. We asked for coffee, tea and orange juice. No tea available, so we all had coffee and orange juice. Breakfast was o.k, but not worth £12.00. We were joined during our breakfast by the cleaning lady, who decided to wash the adjoining floor and vacuum the carpets with no thought to the fact we were all trying to enjoy our overpriced breakfast..UNACCEPTABLE! Needless to say We did not request breakfasts the following day. When we came to check out and pay there was no one in sight. Yes, they had taken our card details, but we wanted to check the bill before leaving. At 10.00am a young lad appeared. We preceded to make payment for our stay. Included in the bill was as expected £12 for breakfast. Not expected a charge for Orange juice@ £1.50pp, Coffee-@£2.50pp and more worryingly a charge for the meal we had the evening prior, which had been paid for the same evening. Surely beverages are part and parcel of a full English? Seems not at The Bull Inn!

Not Great

Went for dinner. Very quiet for a Saturday night considering it's a lovely pub in a lovely village. I think I know why.
Started ok. Ordered wine and dinner. Wine came. Wasn't the Rioja I ordered but was nice so we didn't say anything.
Starter and my burger were fine but my wife's dish wasn't nice at all.
Pidgeon breast with poached eggs and black pudding. The meat was overcooked and the eggs were rock hard making the dish very dry.
The waiting staff disappeared so we told her when she came for the plates and she apologised and said she would talk to the manager.
No one came back to us and when I went to find someone to ask for the bill it wasn't mentioned or deducted in any way.
No tip was left!

All in all it just feels that no one cares and the staff are very inattentive.

A shame.
