Came here with my partner for a meal at the newly opened restaurant for a Sunday carvery due to my friends recommendation, must say the service was fantastic and was taken care of. The chef was lovely and checked we were happy with the carvery, the food itself was excellent and was extremely great for the price of 5.95!! I piled up my plate and enjoyed every single bite. Will definitely return and bring friends.

After booking our wedding with the castle hotel we thought we would pop down and sample the food In the restaurant. All I can say about the food is wow. Service was brilliant from being welcomed in to the restaurant to the cook coming and checking food was ok. Wouldn’t hesitate to return for another meal.

I stayed at the castle hotel for three nights this November
Yes the parking is poor but show a town located hotel that has good parking its free from 6.00 pm until 8.30 am the next morning so for a business trip it great.
Yes the hotel is old and in need of investment
Yes its creaky and noisy ( never heard any noise from the street though)
But what makes it work is the staff, friendly, enthusiastic and always have a smile on their faces.
Try the food in the evening, the lasagne is to die for, served in the bar if you wish (watching the match, get in) great portions too, I had the Steak pie the next night, massive portion, nice and hot too.
All in all I really enjoyed my stay, and will definitely return next time I am down here, give it a try, but remember your not in the west end bare this in mind.

After seeing many adverts on Facebook about the restaurant opening again I decided to take my girlfriend out for Sunday dinner. I called the hotel to fund that it was fully booked but the young lady on reception (lisa i think she said her name was . Sorry if ive got it wrong)asked if I would hold to see what she could do . She came back after speaking to the kitchen staff and said she would be able to squeeze us in . When we got there the waiting staff were very pleasant and made us feel welcome which is something I feel is very important , we were shown to our table and asked if we would like drinks from the bar which the young lady fetched for us . We were then told we could get out food . The spread looked great and the portions were suitable for anybody that eat a large amount. The amount of veg on offer was great and so much so I missed the roast potatoes (schoolboy error) but when I went back up the lady serving handed me a small bowl to take some back to my table and I'm glad I did . All in all I'm very impressed and will be going again whenever I can . I suggest booking earlier than on the morning of your visit as it was very busy .

Friendly, helpful staff. However, if you’re looking for a good night sleep book elsewhere. We were on the second floor and the night club music kept us awake until past 2am. As the windows aren’t double glazed and poorly fitting, the night-time revellers could be heard on the streets too. Then at 6am water pipes were squealing and making ‘drilling noises’ and then 7am the street cleaners were about. It really did sound like everything was in the room!
In a small double I’d still expect bedside units or shelves to put my drinks on.
Bed comfy and room was clean.
