Me and my husband came in for a quiet drink before our tea, soon as we walked in we could taste the uncleanliness. Staff, I believe his name was Gary, was particularly arrogant and coughed directly in to our wines we saw what we thought to believe was a throat stone fall out, safe to say we ditched the drinks and went elsewhere- do one, we won't be back!!

Called in for a swift pint before fish n chips. No ice or lemon for my wife's G&T (a customer at the bar commented 'no ice again') no apology proferred and my pint was ordinary. The pub was cold and scruffy.

Attended a visit in Barnard Castle & stayed at this venue. The room was surprisingly nice although the ensuite was a squeeze - it's a good job we were slim. The pub managers were helpful and let us in early to get changed and assisted with directions and taxi no. The burglar alarm kept going off in the morning???? no real instruction on checkout, just left Kevin room and left the place - no staff around. Overall.... a bargain, clean? central to town? Bowes Museum & we would stay again. Thank you.

Trapped in Barnard Castle this was bliss. Great beer great service friendly staff. Big thanks to Dean who made me feel very welcome charged my phone and also to all the other helpful an efficient staff that combine to make a great place to go. I only ate a starter there but based on that can recommend the food too. Certainly plenty of people eating there

Stayed for one night after a long cycle ride.
New owners only had the place a few days and they need to sort the accommodation out-it's cheap but not cheerful. Needs a total refurb to achieve its full potential.
Bar not too bad with beer garden to rear-again some work needed and the place could be fantastic.
