I stayed in this pub just on the off chance and found an absolute gem.
My room was very nice, very clean with a nice bathroom with plenty of toiletries and a disposable razor which is a nice touch.
The bar and restaurant are a good standard with a wide range of beer and lagers available. There is also a wine list available which looked extensive.
The food is excellent, well cooked with plenty of choice, the owner Karl claimed he cooked the best poached eggs in the world and I have to say it is difficult to disagree with him. However do be careful ordering the full English breakfast as it is huge and moving afterwards could pose a problem.
Lastly, the staff are first rate, you are treated as a guest and not a customer.

Really enjoyed our stay. Charming room with lovely outlook. Karl, Helen and Staff couldn't have any more welcoming. Meals were superb - great steak and Karl's "Secret Recipe" poached eggs for breakfast were delicious. Unfortunately only a two night stay but will be longer next time. Aussie friendly as well..

Please note that this review is with respect to our dining experience only since we did not actually stay at this hotel.
We had a Sunday Roast dinner here on 3rd September 2017. We were very impressed as regards value for money. Thick slices of locally sourced roast beef (no pre-packaged thin slices of beef here), a fair sized Yorkshire pudding (with gravy inside), mashed potatoes, a couple of whole boiled potatoes (tasty flavour - suspect local produce), a couple of roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and a jug of gravy to top up. As a main course, this was on offer for around £7.50. OK, we also had starters, drinks and coffees, too. The whole lot amounted to just over £30. Considering the quality of the food, and the excellent pint of Yippee real ale, and the fast, friendly, pleasant and efficient service, it was worth every penny, my opinion. Consequently, I would recommend as great value for your money.

The Coach House is in a great location for exploring the local area. Staff are really friendly and the service is excellent. Our room was really comfy and the food was great - exactly what you want from your short break. Would certainly go back!

Really good stay at the Coach House, staff all friendly and helpful, knowledgable about the Area and history. Karl was really amenable and made our visit memorable. Great breakfasts too.
Great place for a break within short travel distance of the 3 peaks and a short hop up to the Lake District.
