Descent Hotel in a Great Location

We got a great one night rate for this boutique hotel located in the heart of Beverly Hills about a 5 minute walk to Rodeo drive. The hotel met our expectation in almost every category. We knew the rooms would be small, but we weren't going to spend much time in the room other than sleeping. There is also lots of comfy chairs around the hotel with books and magazines available for reading if you feel cramped. We knew about the $25 charge, but with Breakfast included and the free happy hour between 5pm and 6pm we felt we got great value (WIFI should always be free so that doesn't count). The service at the front desk was friendly and exceeded our expectations, and the hotel is decorated with photos of celebrities that are interesting to look at. It was also next door to the restaurant we wanted to go to "Il Pastaio". Where the hotel lost its star was the aggressive Valet service. It was recommended that we park across the street and that's what I planned on doing since we weren't going to use the car until we checked out, but I was aggressively talked out of it. Not sure what was in it for him, but for the $10-$15 in price difference, it wasn't worth the aggravation. When we got to our room, the bathroom was not clean and disgusting. We quietly asked the maid to clean the bathroom and we went for a short walk around the area. It was cleaned immediately and I have to think this was a one off that rarely happens. Some people may not have liked the leaf blowers across the street first thing in the morning. We were up early and had our breakfast over the annoying sound, but if anyone wanted to sleep in, it wasn't going to happen. I wouldn't spend a week here, but for one or two nights for the price we paid, we were more than satisfied.

Good for a short visit

So I was in LA recently for some acting stuff, and though rather than staying at an AirBnB I should treat myself and stay at a hotel (I Men no washing up, they do your bed, change your towels etc). When I found a really good deal for The Crescent and noticed the address, I thought – why not? All the time in so many years I have travelled back and forth to LA, never have I stayed in Beverly Hills and with a postcode like ‘90210’, you can’t go wrong, right? Right. The hotel is a super small boutique hotel. I love the initial design idea of the hotel. The breakfast room and bar hit all the right notes with a cosy feel and oozes the old Hollywood glam and charm – love, love, love! There is no parking so you will have to use their valet service which is USD30 per night – which is about the average you will have to pay everywhere in LA – unless you are in Santa Monica. I was on my own, so the room size was fine for me. What I didn’t like were a couple of things mainly deisgn-related): 1. The lighting in the rooms. I think probably because I am a trained interior designer, I picked on little things like the position of the light switches (none by the bedside, so you’d have to walk to the front door to switch off the lights then back to your bed) 2. There is a docking station in every room which I find pointless. 2. The statutory USD25 additional charge every night of your stay for breakfast & ‘amenities’, which is a lot considering I don’t really eat breakfast, plus it stops you from wanting to explore and get breakfast elsewhere. But I got the room for a steal so I didn’t complaint much about that. 3. I moved from room 216 to 220 as I thought the lighting in 216 were too dark for my liking. TBH 220 wasn’t much better, but the room was better somehow. The gentleman at the reception was helpful and tried his best to pleased me which worked! Howvere he forgot to mention that 220 is located directly above the bar and the breakfast room, so when I got back late from my acting activity and wanting to go to bed, I couldn’t because I can hear the loud music from the bar. Albeit, they play good jazz music, I still would prefer some peace and quiet especially past midnight! Also, I was always woken up early morning with the smell of breakfast and sound from the breakfast room and the sound of traffic as the room is also situated next to the main street! Overall it was a pleasant stay as I was out all day from breakfast until late evening. The location is good for deigner shopping – Rodeo Drive is literally 3mins away! If the Crescent are willing, I am happy to consult and provide a complimentary design service especially for their rooms to make it a better experience for future hotels guests.

A lovely boutique hotel in a great location It is within a 5 minute walking distance to Rodeo Drive and numerous restaurants. They have a lovely bar/ terrace area where you have an included breakfast as well as free wine/beer during happy hour. Service was excellent and the price reasonable is comparison to other hotels in the Beverly Hills area. It is also a short 20 minute ride to Hollywood area.

best of best!

This delicately designed boutique hotel is located at the corner of Beverly Hills. Including art pieces, all services, breakfast (SUPERB!), sparkling water bottle for extra "compliment", etc. are enough to satisfy any.

Great boutique hotel in a great location.
