A hotel in need of upgrade which charges unrealistic room rates
170hughgon 21/11/2017 11:32we booked a two night weekend break in November and were very disappointed. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful but there is no central heating and apart from a log fire in the reception area the whole hotel relies on elderly electrical storage heating which is uncontrollable and totally out of keeping with modern hotel standards.
Our bedroom was heated by one single small storage heater and was extremely cold. The ensuite bathroom has only an electrical towel rail and no floor covering, so the bathroom is like walking into a fridge. The towels were the thinnest and worn I have ever experienced, so the accommodation quality was extremely poor. We only had one cooked breakfast which was served on cold plates so the food was already cold when it arrived. The room rate was £94 for one night with breakfast costing £12 each and we were also charged £12 for our pet cocker spaniel dog. The Hotel announces it is dog friendly, but it is charging a lot for the service.
I would not go back again
Great stay with my wife and 2 dogs
defendertd5on 13/11/2017 13:57I booked this as a bit of a last minute weekend away.
I got the managers special £75 per person, per night. This deal is for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. I also paid £21 surcharge per dog per night (which is the standard price)
The hotel is very old and has its quirkiness, plenty of squeaky floor boards and wood fire places. You have to remember it is an old place as some things might annoy you like the poor water pressure in the shower, rattling wooden windows and electric heaters in the rooms. However, I think this adds to the character of the place.
Overall it is a nice hotel, friendly staff (I have to point our Lyndsey at reception for upgrading our room and organising Prosecco and strawberries)
For dog lovers, dogs are allowed in the bar and lounge and you can toilet your dog on the grass across the road from the hotel. Lyndsey also provided a water bowl and a biscuits for our dogs when we were relaxing in the lounge.
The manager's special was really worth the money, you get a 3 course meal from the full menu from the restaurant which was brilliant as the food was excellent.
I highly recommend the place if you want a nice relaxing Highland Getaway
Lovely staff, very clean, brilliant food!
K4tyMon 11/11/2017 15:33Stayed in the Deeside Inn for two nights in November. The bedroom was clean and comfortable if a tiny bit dated. Windows were only single glazed which was a little chilly for having travel cot right next to but we rearranged things and there was an additional heater provided to combat any chill. The staff were really lovely and couldn't have been more helpful throughout our whole stay. Breakfast and dinner in the bar were excellent. Public areas very nicely decorated. Will definitely be back!
Relaxing getaway
patsy lon 08/11/2017 22:35Stayed here with my boyfriend. Friendly staff and relaxed setting. Food was delicious where after you can sit in a comfortable lounge with fire burning. Very friendly dog hotel. Rooms clean however found the bed uncomfortable due to two single beds merged into a double.
2nd time visit
ROBERT2210on 08/11/2017 17:482nd visit to this hotel in last year
Lovely quaint hotel around the communal areas but the room we were in this time could do with a bit of upgrading ,getting a bit tired.
THe food as usual at this hotel is superb, plenty of it and very tasty , there is a proviso this time ,stayed a Friday to Sunday on a dinner bed and breakfast basis, Sunday morning no cooked breakfast due to "technical issues" .i was looking forward to a cooked breakfast before my drive home ( no discount on bill offered) a bit of a black spot on the weekend , felt sorry for the lady explaining to guests on Sunday morning that there was no cooked breakfast on offer.
Staff very friendly and helpful and hotel near to all local amenities
Entertainment on Saturday night was superb and a nice little extra from last time e were there
Would I go back ? Yes but not as quickly as I did it his time
