Duke Mansion was built in 1915 is listed on the National Register of Historic places, and is one of the best examples of Colonial Revival in North Carolina. Its history is the history of the economic forces that brought the Carolinas out of the depression after the end of the Civil War.It has been home to some of the great leaders throughout the 20th century and serves as a welcoming place for visitors and a gracious place for all types of celebrations including weddings. It is owned and operated as a nonprofit with all the proceeds being used to preserve and protect this treasure. The bed and breakfast has beautifully appointed rooms and wonderful breakfasts.

wonderful stay

After visiting several bed and breakfast this week we found this wonderful and absolutely stunning property and home. Very reasonably priced but lacks and also a select registry property. This stay left nothing to be desired. All the employees were very friendly the breakfast was delicious. The property is a 100-plus year-old mansion in a very historic and beautiful subdivision.

Wonderful Experience

We treated ourselves to Duke Mansion as a special treat for 2 nights during a 2 week drive around Virginia and North Carolina and were so pleased we did - it was great experience. The mansion and grounds are stunning and you feel privileged to stay here. All the staff are friendly and welcoming and willing to help with any request. The room was spectacular and beautifully appointed. Despite wooden floors it was quiet at night and we slept well. The breakfast is buffet style but with plenty of variety and very tasty with great service regarding tea, coffee and freshly squeezed OJ.

The Mansion is well located in the beautiful Myers Park area and we were did a walk of the area with details provided by Duke Mansion, detailing the interesting and historic houses in the area. They had a cash bar available in the evening between 5.00 and 8.00pm and there was cookies and coffee available in the afternoon. It is situated about a 10 minute drive from downtown Charlotte. On one of the nights we stayed there were 2 functions on but we were still made to feel welcome and encouraged to use the rest of the facilities and grounds.

This was a special treat for us as we generally stay in the more budget style motels and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and believe we got good value for money.

Simply beautiful

I am in love with this place! I loved everything about it, the drive up to it, the first glimpse of the mansion, the stunning gardens, the amazing lobby (with the shiniest floor I've ever seen), the cheerful but understated welcome, our suite with screened porch and porch swing. I could go on and on. I loved the fact it's so old and the floor boards in the bedroom creak, the wardrobe doors creak, the open fire in the bedroom, the beautiful furniture, the luxurious drapes, the beautiful marble bathroom, the amazingly comfortable huge bed with crisp white bed linen, love, love, love. Having been brought up in a Victorian house back home in Scotland, this brought back so many wonderful memories. I just wish my mum were alive today. If she was, I'd bring her here for a week as she would love to examine every nook and cranny of this beautiful house and being a fantastic gardener, would have enjoyed that gardens so much. The staff are delightful. The breakfast and setting were lovely. I truly can fault this place. Oh ok then, one negative, get rid of the flat screen tv in the beautiful old bedroom, it looks so out of place, though I just pretended it wasn't even there. Thank you for letting us share this piece of Charlotte history. If I'm ever back in Charlotte, I will only ever stay here.

Dowd room very special! ❤️

We stayed for one night during our anniversary week- a historic lovely mansion renovated into a bed & breakfast. Large room, patio with a porch swing, soaking tub, shower---luxury! Coffee in hallway in morning. Buffet breakfast in the morning was delicious. There is a nice walking garden behind the home. And this is set in a very upscale Charlotte neighborhood, Myers Park. 3 minute drive to romantic restaurant, Napa on Providence. Only downside is no bell service.
