Little jewel

I would not class as real luxury, rooms quite basic, but very clean and welcoming. Had all you could possibly need in the room, spotless bathroom and great breakfast. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Will be back!

We booked 2 rooms for a family visit to Biggar in October. Both rooms were very spacious, very clean with lovely white fluffy towels & well laid out. We were situated at the back of the property so also very quiet with windows overlooking the beer garden - nice to have windows that open for fresh air! Food was excellent - breakfast and dinner - a wide menu selection for dinner. All staff were very friendly & helpful to all of us - nothing was too much trouble to them! Thank you very much...we'll definitely be back!

Very comfortable night

Visited Biggar to attend a school reunion, as did many of the other guests that Saturday night.

Checked in quickly and with little formality, got to my room, had a cup of coffee and was out for a walk within 30 minutes. Room was number 3, described as a small twin for single use. It was on the small side but adequate for a single. The bathroom was large and had a separate corner bathtub and a walk-in shower. Both the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The odd thing was that the room did not have a window, only a skylight with a horizontal blind to draw across.

I was quite tired when I went to bed that night and, as I don't usually sleep well in a strange bed, was surprised to have a good night's sleep.

Breakfast the next morning had everything you would want but the only thing was that I wasn't directed to the correct tables; some were set up for lunch and others for breakfast and it was not really evident which was which! Apart from that, the service was efficient and the breakfast really good.

I would certainly use this hotel again if staying in Biggar.

NICE LITTLE TOWN

Jane L on 13/09/2017 01:47

stayed one saturday Night recently were in room no 4 which was in the older part of the hotel. Nice clean good sized room with a good bathroom and comfy beds. NEEDED upgrading a bit though, Kettle didnt work, but was quickly replaced. but couldnt use one bedside lamp has the electric lead DID NOT reach the plug socket. It looked the part but was pretty pointless as no extension lead or spare plug available. Also there was a very very loud party downstairs in the function room that night which went on after midnight. Not good if you wanted to get some sleep. after a 270 mile drive. The staff were really nice and helpful. Especially the lady and her girls on the Sunday morning doing the breakfasts. Incidentally the breakfasts were superb. WOULD DEFINITELY go to Biggar again as it seemed a nice little town, but not sure I would stay at the Elphinstone again, unless a room was offered in the Newer part of the hotel..which was deceptively bigger than it looked. ANOTHER point is that this hotel takes payment at the time of booking, I booked and paid in Jan 2017 but didnt stay till August. NOT KEEN on that.
