Superb meal

This was our first visit to The Exeter Arms. We met up with friends. Although the lunch menu seemed at first quite limited the content and presentations was very pleasing. We ordered fish and chips which were really nice, the peas, very tasty. The open steak sandwich looked and tasted delicious. The Crayfish salad was well presented and large. We all enjoyed our meal. The deserts were just as good. I would certainly recommend this eatery.

The room was nice enough but lacked a dressing table and some chairs. Comfy bed though. The pub is on a busy road but you get used to the traffic. The staff were excellent. Very helpful and polite. Highlight of the stay was definitely the food. Well presented and tasty. Had smoked salmon benedict for breakfast for the first time - gorgeous! Evening meal tasted as good as it looked. Nice surroundings, lovely outdoor area for when the weather is good. Felt a bit overpriced for the room but everything else made up for it.
Poor quality food

Came out of Stamford to go for lunch somewhere a little different. Decided to visit this pub as we had been a couple of years ago and had very good quality food. Unfortunately we could not say the same about this visit. We were a table of 7 having a mixture of fish finger sandwiches, fish and chips, meat platters and steak sandwiches. The fish was processed and we couldn’t entirely tell what kind of fish it was but all were in agreement that it was at most 50% fish, a Birdseye fish finger would have been 10 times better. In fact I can imagine the fish fingers were probably from Iceland, in fact I think that’s offensive for Iceland. The chips were raw and soggy and again, I’m not entirely sure you could call them chips. As for the meat platters and the remaining food, everything lacked flavour or was stale and the steak you needed a saw to cut through. The presentation however was very good, which is probably why we were fooled to come here in the first place. However please do look past the presentation because the food quality was poor. Prosecco also didn’t have much fizz and the latte lacked coffee, was mostly milk. If you’re looking to go for a nice pub lunch or even dinner, avoid. P.s we are not fussy customers in the slightest but after looking forward to a lovely lunch we all left very disappointed and will never return again.
Delightful stay, many good things

We stayed at the Exeter Arms and it a delightful stay in many ways. It was a great find to have a such a quality inn and restaurant in the area. We really enjoyed our visit. Very comfortable stay and there's also a good size car park on the property.
The rooms are nicely appointed and very clean. Good size with nice bed linens and towels. The bed was also very comfortable and great wifi and tv in the room. Very happy for the value.
We also had a great dinner in the restaurant. The menu has so many great choices and delicious. It is also a very nice dining room, with nice soft lighting and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was also very good the next day.
And the service with great. Leah was very helpful and she runs everything well. I recommend the Exeter Arms and will return. Great value for the money. Book with confidence.

Can not recommend this ‘pub with rooms’ highly enough. The room was large, comfortable and well equipped. The food in the restaurant was obviously freshly cooked and the menus were varied and interesting. All the very young staff were helpful and efficient. This is the sort of establishment that deserves to thrive.
