Recently opened, Nonna’s Osteria, showcases Chef Luca Della Casa’s , talents and Italian cuisine in a classy open setting. Dined they’re last night with some friends and there food was awesome- arancini, caprese fritta, spaghetti bolognese, gnocchi w rabbit and some tasty Sangiovese wine - well done!

This was a lovely little hotel with bags of character.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were nice.
I wish we could have spent longer than one night there.
It is close to the sights and the river walk so that was good.

This hotel is in a great location by the historic La Vilita, the Riverwalk, and the convention centre. It does not have a pool or restaurant. It does have free wifi and it is fast. The rooms are large, clean and funky decor. The beds are comfy but it is a bit dated.

On May 14th, I broke my nose at the Fairmount Hotel. They had washed the tub with some substance that made it slick as ice. The manager on duty, Marisa Torres called the ambulance that took me to the hospital. Then she met us at the door when we returned and admitted that it was the chemical they used to clean. She promised to refund our money and pay my medical bills. She refunded part of the money for the hotel stay, but I haven't seen a penny for my medical bills, which are mounting. They won't answer my calls either. Beware of them. If you get hurt in their property, they leave you out to hang in the wind! And to make it worse I had two black eyes for weeks! It looked like I had been in a fight!

My husband surprised me with a trip to San Antonio for our anniversary.. I had never been, so super excited. My husband, knowing how tough I am on hotels, asked me to take a look at this place online. The first words out of my mouth were, " Looks historic.. " a bit skeptical. A few things sold me, 2 blocks from the Riverwalk, and 3 from Alamo and the rate was reasonable. When we arrived I was a bit shocked at how small the lobby is, no bar or restaurant.. Hmmmm. There is what looks like the start of a new front desk? There appears to be wood, a granite slab on top of the bottom of the soon to be front desk? Strange. In the already tiny lobby to keep this, not quite finished project, seems odd. There seemed to be no apology regarding construction, lack of bar or restaurant. ( Sorry folks, we are renovating please excuse our dust. Or if you folks would like coffee or breakfast there is a cafe about about a block away.. Something ) The first room we checked into, the air conditioner was leaking on to the toilet. The second room was fine. Clean, we booked a junior suite, so roomy. The bathroom was tiny, and although the shower had dual shower heads, the metal around shower needs to be replaced. Bed was comfortable but closet was itty bitty! Quiet at least, however air conditioner was working overtime, tough to adjust to maintain a cool room vs freezing room. I guess for the price, it was an ok place to stay, as I mentioned close to everything.. I think once they finish with the lobby, bar and restaurant it will be a BETTER place, just know when booking this place it's very old.
