Oh wow ...the food is freshly cooked and really delicious. I had liver onions and fluffy mash potatoe with proper fresh vegetables. The service great and the menu has plenty of choice. You must book a a table as the pub gets really busy as the food is so good.

I had book a table that was advised by trip advisor reviews that I read . It took us 30 minutes to drive from where we were staying . I Was not disappointed , The staff where very friendly. The food was very good and plenty full . The prices was reasonable. If I was back in Derbyshire again would take a visit to the farmyard inn .
Good grub, good pub

A delightful find in a beautiful part of the Peak District. We stumbled across the Farmyard Inn while out looking for a place dinner on Saturday night. It's a lovely old pub, the landlady and staff were pleasant helpful and friendly.
I had a sizeable piece of steak and ale pie withe new potatoes and fresh veg, tasty and well cooked. My who that hungry chose the duck and pancakes which were spot on, it's easy to see why this place is so popular.
Worth a visit.
Very Quaint

As ever when I write a review I give a short bottom line without detail, followed up with a comprehensive assessment. Lovely clean comfortable accommodation, served by the friendliest staff. Good food dont be put off by the website Pub Grub menu - its better and more comprehensive than that. Will definately return.
The Inn has a head start being in a lovely village in the Derbyshire Peak district - we were a bit apprehensive before arriving due to our very bad recent experience at an Inn recently subject to my last review
The friendly welcome by a lovely member of staff soon allayed this apprehension and was the standard all the staff adopted for the whole of our stay friendly and helpful. The landlady is a poppet - even visits the baarh on her night off!
The rooms have a farm theme, we were in `The Pig Sty` thus the heading of my review. This room was far from the unfortunate interpretation of a pig sty. It was cosy, clean, comfortable the bed being very comfortable. Nice shower room. Only three small things to mark down - a box of tissues would have been nice. A bit of mould showing on shower room wall easily dealt with with a lick of paint. The shower curtain as ever clings, but I cant see what can be done about that.
The bar or baarh area is cosy with comfortable seating - too comfortable because the Inn is very popular and attracts many people.
The food! on the website you could be excused if you thought it was just pub grub (nothing wrong with pub grub if it is good quality, presented well with decent portions) But the Farmyard Inn is much better than that - the daily specials on a ladder style menu on the wall is very very long, and as a ladder, it represents a `stairway to heaven` with lots of dishes you would not expect
We dined in on a Monday after reserving a table - a must, even on a Monday the place was fully booked!!!!
The reality when timely served was lovely, local ingredients (the cauliflours that day had just been delivered from the village allotments - fresh they squeaked at you! Portions ample, all meals were hot and promptly served, and oh yes reasonably priced. The cellar was varied and the beer kept well.
For those unfortunate not to get a table but staying in the village there is a take-away option offered by the Inn. we used this for our puds on our first night (daughter staying in cottage nearby)
I must mention the breakfast - My wife and I are frequent travelers around the world and we both thought this was the best breakfast were had ever had anywhere - and they have `Marmite` The ingredients are locally sourced, quality and the flavour highlights the fact.
This experience makes me reluctant to write this review cos we want it ALL to ourselves it was a pleasure
Will we return -you bet, plans already in motion!!!!!
