I organised a short stay at Five Arrows last week with some friends. I am always a little nervous when making arrangements for a group, but I have to say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The location is superb with many interesting places to visit in the area. The food was consistently excellent and the rooms were fine for a short break.
Disappointed with room

I booked this hotel for 2 night ! full board stay directly with hotel and asked for a delux double room.I mentioned it was a birthday celebration for my husband.
You cannot fault the main hotel. It's clean, modern and welcoming. The breakfast was very good and both evening meals were superb. Beautifully presented, delicious and imaginative. I did think our waiter reminded me of Manuel from Fawltey Towers but he was charming.
The biggest disappointment was our room. It was in the annexe and as it was very cold it was not a pleasure to walk across the courtyard for our meals at our age.
The room was small and faced the main road. Traffic noise started at 5am. The street light shone into the room despite the curtains being closed so it was never truly dar. The bed was a reqular double which in these days is small. On our 2nd night we were woken at 2am by our neighbour shouting for over 30 minutes.
The bathroom was well appointed with nice toiletries.
In fairness the hotel took on board our disappointments and dealt with them.
I would certainly recommend this hotel only if a room was booked that didn't face the road.

We stayed at The Five Arrows for one night as it is near Bicester village shopping centre, the hotel is very well maintained, clean comfortable and staff very friendly.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and breakfast the next morning, food was very nice.
A huge and expensive disappointment.

We booked weeks in advance an afternoon tea for a large family gathering celebrating our elderly Mother's birthday. We arrived in good time from three countries to no greeting at all, just 'wait while we set a table'.
Twelve of us had a 'Cream Tea' and one had the 'Afternoon Tea.' The teas and coffees arrived without milk which had to be asked for twice, fifteen minutes before the scones came to the table. Hot chocolate drinks for the teenagers arrived lukewarm. Therefore, all drinks were barely warm when the scones were still being baked! The offhand waitress did not smile once throughout. When eventually asked if everything was all right, my brother-in-law stated that it was not for £9.50 a head! There was no apology, just excuses and no recompense. For a greatly anticipated, expensive and long planned family gathering, this was shambolic! None of us would recommend this establishment and wish we had booked elsewhere for half the price!
Very difficult to contact

I've yet to stay, so hope by writing this review I can get the hotel to review their telephone service. On numerous occasions I have tried to book a room and the phone has rung and rung...When you take a few minutes to do something like this its really frustrating to have to make a note to call again later -time and again.
