An exceptional stay in a beautiful village....

We stayed here on Friday evening 27th Oct and booked the Abbey view room.Booking in was swift and welcoming and we were also shown to our room. Our room was full of character, beams on the ceiling and in the bathroom,a roll top bath and a decent sized television. We both slept extremely well....i drifted off listening to the chimes coming from the Abbey situated across the road.Breakfast was excellent...it took a little while to arrive but was exceptional. The Fleur De Lys has a small car park to the rear that can be a little tricky to enter/exit as it is relatively narrow...as for the place itself,it has been an inn since 1520 and has a ton of old charm...Midsummer Murders and other tv programmes have been filmed in this pretty village and its easy to see why.Staff, our room and food were all 10/10. ..visited and stayed 27th Oct 2017.
Restaurant with Rooms

This old coaching inn should be called a restaurant with rooms; the rooms are not much (though they are clean, en suite, and the bed was comfortable) but the cooking is superlative. There's a small pub inside and a larger dining area. Access to rooms is by the back door, adjacent to a parking area.
If you are a Midsomer Murders fan, there's a lot to see in Dorchester-on-Thames, mostly on the main street through town which goes right by the Fleur de Lys.
Quaint old inn with seriously good food.

Set in the lovely and historic village of Dorchester on Thames this quaint old inn is opposite to the Abbey. The bedrooms are of a good size, well equipped and clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and put themselves out to make our stay extremely pleasant. The food, however, was on an even higher level cooked by a very talented chef who presented his dishes with the imagination, care and standard that would be found in first class restaurants.
There is a beer garden with a children's play area. The pub has a great atmosphere and is frequented by locals as well as visitors on holiday.
So nice

This quaint little hotel was something very special. The friendliness and helpfulness of the manager and staff was nothing short of excellent. The food was out of this world. The rooms were unique and intriguing.
Highly recommended.

Room decent size, comfy bed, hotel and bar staff very friendly. Ate in the restaurant in the evening, which was excellent quality food - definitely tasted like it was cooked to order.
Free car park is a bit tight to get in to, but on the positive side it has (security) gates that are closed overnight.
Excellent breakfast in the morning - no doubting that quality ingredients were used.
We arrived outside of the hours of the bar, which meant that we had to try and call the owner to get a room key, only we didn't have any mobile phone signal. Thankfully we found a door to the kitchen and were able to find a (excellent) member of staff to check us in - worth trying to arrive during bar hours.
Would definitely return.
