Needs money spent on it- Avoid
James Pon 20/09/2017 15:22I stayed here recently for 2 nights when on a business trip. This is the second time I have stayed at this place. The first being 4 years ago when I thought it was ok if a little tired looking. Unfortunately since then it has gone downhill. I arrived and was told that the chef had left so no cooked food was available for dinner. The room needed redecorating, wallpaper and shelves hanging off the wall in the bathroom. I asked for an Iron only to be told they didn't have one as it was broken....Breakfast was ok but nothing special. All in all best avoided.
Bite to eat
Ashleigh Kon 23/07/2017 16:59Stopped here for lunch today and we had a lovely warm welcome! Very accommodating. There were four of us, my Mam and I ordered the macaroni cheese with salad and chips, my husband and dad had the steak and ale pie with chips and veg. The pie was packed with steak, and very nice! Lovely view and would gladly return for lunch.
Evening Meal
audreyj21on 22/05/2017 08:36Went here a month or so ago & had a lovely meal served by friendly staff. The restaurant was very quiet and pleasant. Yesterday we were passing again and because of the great time last time decided to stop for our tea. Surprised to find meals not being served especially on a Sunday night. Disappointed to say the least not a great way to run a hotel, would put a lot of people off never to return. Please get your act together.
Great beer, terrible attitude
James Mon 16/04/2017 21:00I really like this hotel - summers day you can't beat the beer garden. fantastic location and What a selection of beer! But on this occasion i was really annoyed. But it has proper beer. Great. Could have murdered some food too.... But the young blonde lass behind the bar wouldn't serve us food as they were expecting a large group. ....Not even a sandwich. Then she managed to insult the other two parties in the bar. But the beer was good, so good i attempted to have a second pint, but it wasn't to be as she was too busy to serve us. Not with the large group, but chatting with the locals.
The happy cuppa in Alford does great bacon butties and huge cakes.
Every other time this place has been great. Maybe i caught the lass at a bad time.......

Nikki Pon 06/04/2017 13:15Had an amazing lunch here yesterday - quick service and the food was delicious. Kids got to play at the park in the grounds. Amazing setting on the river. The rooms and bar/lounge here are also fantastic, and great value. On the whisky and castle trail and a great base for exploring the surrounding areas!
