One thing I should praise first is the excellent service of the staff at this hotel. Everyone was really pleasant and kind. The reason I gave this hotel 3/5 was for two reasons. First off, I have stayed in numerous 5 star hotels around the world, and this hotel is certainly not a 5 star accomodation. At most I would say 4-stars, but even that may be a stretch. The ground floor, and lobby suggest yes, it can be, but when you get to the rooms and see the design and work done, it does not look professional. Also the lack of amenities within the room. Another thing was the shower did not look like it had been cleaned since the last person checked out. Lastly, was the TV not working. I had requested twice for someone to have it looked at, and both times I was assured that someone would come up, however, noone came to have a look, and as such the TV did not work for the duration of my stay. Otherwise, the hotel is still a great place to stay for a night while in Agra.

Without paying the silly money of some of the other hotels in Agra, this is a very good base for a couple of nights in Agra. From higher rooms on the road side, you do get a view of the Taj (balance against the road noise!).
The ability to get bar snacks rather than a full meal was useful (Although the music in the bar was somewhat at odds with the rest of the hotel).
Staff were friendly and helpful

First night after arrival in India, so was not that bothered about the quality of the hotel. JHaving said that, very good welcome on arrival, lovely staff, and good room. Only there one night, but breakfast also had an excellent choice.
I ate at the Indian restaurant in the hotel. Food and service were both excellent, cooked in the open kitchen. Make sure you don't miss this place.
After everything I said, I am marking this hotel down by two stars. Only after leaving and checking my receipt, did I realise that they had converted my final bill from rupees into pounds. Check the receipt - if it shows pounds anywhere, then they have converted it at a really poor exchange rate.
This seems to have happened in most places where I paid by credit card. The local credit card company converts the Rupees to pounds, and pockets 6% on the exchange rate. I imagine that the hotels receive a part of this, as they are very keen to scam their guests. Pay in the local currency and let it get converted by your bank at home.
Two stars only instead of four for ripping me off. Maybe this will help hotels not to try and rip off their guests.

Had a great two day stay at this hotel as part of our Golden Triangle tour. The facilities, staff and service were good and so would definitely recommend. Enjoyed seeing two Indian wedding parties the decorations were amazing also the wonderful dresses and saris worn by the female guests.

Me and my family visited The Gateway Hotel, Agra in the month of October. The entire experience was amazing! Starting from the female security staff who welcomed us to the Sardarji who helped us with our bags.(Palvinder, I might be wrong)
The Front-desk staff was also very quick in our check-ins.
We stayed at the hotel for 2 days and 1 night. We were overwhelmed with the surprise that they had for us. Since it was my birthday and my parents anniversary, while we were out for lunch they decorated our room with the Towel Art and got a cake for me. Also, they had a gift for us. We would like to thank the entire staff that was a part of the surprise and our stay with Taj. Would like to specially mention Mr. Madan from the Restaurant as he got us some special Agra delicacies, Ms. Geeta from the Housekeeping dept for making such an amazing Towel Art. The front-desk executives Ms. Nidhi & Ms. Riya for answering our never-ending questions.
Thank you everyone! Would recommend staying here anytime you visit Agra.
