Wonderful old hotel with modern amenities. Excellent breakfast (buffet, but with enthusiastic assistants). Very pleasant tiny bar that seems to be open late and has friendly bartenders. All in all a very pleasant place to stay if you're visiting Case Western, Cleveland Institute of Music and the museum area.

The good: Historic setting, central location, excellent breakfast selection, service, and staffing.
The Average: Check-in was amateurish, and verging on clueless. Room was OK, but interior doors and trim were mediocre quality and out of a residential development; not appropriate for such a prestigious lodging. Giant HD TV was analog with 200 channels and no channel guide. Had to ask for one at the Front Desk. Mediocre room to room sound insulation. And the room was adjacent to a performance space that started an event at 10:00 PM. Heavy bass guitar.
All in all was over twice the price of my prior night’s stay at a Holiday Inn Express with better furnishings, TV, and front desk staffing. And was dead quiet.

What a jewel of a place to stay. The room was beautiful, very clean, and comfortable. Nestled in the foliage of Case Western this hotel is not like a hotel at all. It’s more like a cozy bed and breakfast. Speaking of breakfast - it was delicious. We are planning to stay here again next. Highly recommend it.

Glidden House is a beautiful hotel that looks historic on the outside and feels modern. It is two blocks to cafes and shops, and an easy Uber to the waterfront or downtown. Breakfast was great, staff were helpful and friendly. The room was sparkling clean, beds were comfortable, bathrooms an okay size. We really enjoyed our stay here in September 2017.

We stayed here in August during a busy weekend (CWRU move-in) and during check-in watched another couple being bumped to another hotel due to over-booking. They were treated well under the circumstances - Glidden made the reservation, etc. Our own stay was fine, marred only by the incorrect rate being charged at checkout, which needed to be sorted out after the fact. During that process it took some time to get someone on the telephone who could help.
We also had a reservation for this weekend (also busy due to CWRU homecoming) and were looking forward to it. However the hotel cancelled it via text from Orbtiz with 24 hrs notice. After several phone calls to the hotel I was told this was due to 'unexpected renovations' and a wedding, which had priority on the available rooms. The hotel did not reach out to us or attempt to make any alternate arrangements, or offer any compensation - they just delegated to Orbitz who offered us a much inferior hotel 30 minutes walk away; they could not access rooms at more convenient substitutes (which I was able to access myself).
I understand that occasionally 'stuff happens', but these guys are two for two on bumping customers during busy weekends and (at least in our case) being pretty graceless about it. Think twice about depending on a reservation there.
