illtakeabeeron 14/11/2017 13:43I have stayed several times at the Great George, its a very unique property located very central to all there is to do in Charlottetown. Great service, great value its perfect if you do not want to stay at a more traditional hotel.
Beautiful heritage hotel in the heart of Charlottetown
ZurichPizazzon 13/11/2017 23:21Nicely decorated rooms that are very clean and comfortable. Our room (401) was in a corner and had lovely reading chairs to our daughter's delight. The staff is very helpful and courteous. The breakfast is scrumptious (loved the pumpkin/spice oatmeal!) as well as the afternoon snack. The added touch of a free drink between 5 and 6 was unexpected but very welcomed...especially when enjoyed in that lovely room full of comfy couches close to the fireplace! And the towels for runners on each floor is a nice touch.
Good and Not So Good
CJPMJPon 06/11/2017 11:45This hotel impresses with its atmosphere, architecture and sense of history. We found really good things about the Great George that were let down by irritating, seemingly minor things that added up to spoil it a bit. We stayed in the Cundall House building. On check in front desk went through an over rehearsed speech at alarming speed which left us rather bewildered as to where and when everything was; the person failed to see the pained look on our faces. However Cundall House proved to be quite and comfortable, although venetian blinds don't work for privacy and concerns by other reviewers over the air ventilation machine proved to be well founded. One simply could not sleep with the unit operating and the windows didn't open, leaving little choice. Not to worry though as there was always happy hour which is a very welcome feature, although you shouldn't arrive too late as staff verified that the chip supply is apparently limited to those who were early. The breakfast was very good, although the staff had trouble keeping the orange juice and coffee going. On a practical note, it is rather awkward to east breakfast on low tables while seated in huge leather armchairs! The area does fill up quickly and that spelt difficulty when trying to eat with your travelling friends. It's a nice idea, though! As others have noted, the hotel is well located and has quite a degree of charm. It's a different sort of experience that may well be worth a try.
An Old-Fashioned Delight
CliffHendrovalon 01/11/2017 19:28We arrived to find out that we’d been upgraded to a suite. The room was basically a one-bedroom apartment! Modern amenities in a historic building. Shops and restaurants are s five minute walk. One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in my life.

Helen Won 28/10/2017 17:38My family visited Charlottetown for the first time with a toddler and a newborn and we could not have asked for a better stay. From the moment we walked into the lobby, it was just impeccable service throughout the entire stay. Traveling with a young family, they had generously offered to upgrade our room to the presidential suite, which was simply stunning. The lady who checked us in and out at the front desk (apologies for forgetting her name), was friendly and extremely helpful showing us our room, where to park, and nearby restaurants and attractions. The breakfast was simple yet of a very high quality and our family really enjoyed it. Our girls loved the home baked cookies during happy hour!! Staying here felt like home to us and we didn't want to leave! We could not have asked for a better stay and would definitely be recommending this hotel and staying here again in the near future and every time we visit PEI!
