Stayed for one night - 5th November - due to the location on Highdown Hill. We spent the evening right up on the hill watching the panorama of multiple of fireworks displays - bloody fantastic. We will revisit during daylight next time to capture the views
Highdown Hotel however left us rather underwhelmed . . . . . contrary to other reviews, everything was clean and tidy. A couple of minor issues with the room were quickly resolved although you feel they should not have been an issue in first place . . .lamp not working - got replacement. TV remote not working - new batteries.
We were in the Four Poster room - fantastic huge and amazingly comfortable bed - however it is in a standard sized room - so everything else is a little cramped. Bathroom and shower good size, clean and plenty of hot water.
The rooms are in a barn conversion separate to main building - no real outlook as against trees / hedge. There is however little soundproofing - dusturbed by other guests moving around, talking.
Breakfast is self service buffet - good selection and all hot and fresh
Oh - do look out for the resident cats - all very friendly
We probably would return due to location but would not pay the extra for the upgraded room

Such a brilliant place. The four poster room was absolutely great. The self serve included breakfast is the best we have ever encountered. Lovely staff and location.There is a long straight climbing driveway off the A259 to the old character buildings and it is so quiet and offers great views.

Stayed last week for one night. The room was clean & tidy, staff in the restaurant Nikki & Kerry were lovely, service was fantastic from them both. Food was very tasty, the gammon had been cooked perfectly by Hayley the chef.
Overall all a delightful visit and no doubt we'll be back again in the future :)

Had a nice lunch here today it was a really nice Carvery and the staff were really helpful and pleasant. The meat was really nice and not chewy seemed good quality. The veg was also of a good standard

Walked into four poster room and started to sneeze. On inspection found that whist all horizontal surfaces to be polished no attention had been paid for a long time to the rest of the room. Posts on the bed covered in dust, sides of furniture the same, fittings in the bathroom again covered with dust, the bathroom floor grouting filthy as was behind the washbasin pedestal. Extremely disappointed. Informed reception who were unable to change our room and told that it would be seen to whilst we were out during the evening. Arrived back to a strong smell of disinfectant in the hall way. The smell emanating from the wet bathroom floor and a puddle. The smell overpowering. Too late to change hotel. Checked out before breakfast and on asking, given a full refund for our proposed three night stay. So sad, as it was not as advertised.
