Best Secret of the Desert

We LOVED Rancho Sonora Inn. It was paradise in the desert!
We stayed in the Clementine Room, which was tastefully decorated with a king bed, arched doorways, frig, etc.
The property had a tranquil pool and hot tub area.
The breakfast room was lovely. Continental breakfast included.
Beautiful patio to have breakfast or cocktails.
We look forward to returning as soon as we can!

Rancho Sonora Inn is approximately four miles from Florence center on your way to St. Anthony's Monastery on Highway 79. We stayed in the Clementine room that was full of charm and I'm sure it has some history in it. The room was clean and comfortable with a beautiful garden view from our window. There's a pool and hot tub a short walk from our room but far enough away that you wouldn't hear any noise. There's a continental breakfast across the courtyard where you can enjoy the garden while you eat.
There's a few places that I would highly recommend during your stay. St. Anthony's Monastery is an oasis in the desert with beautiful chapels and gardens. There's really nothing like it. Be sure to check their website for clothing requirements, but they do have some things that you can borrow.
Also the Windmill Winery is a beautiful venue that you can take a horse and carriage ride and view their luscious gardens and lake. I would check their website also, they may have a wedding going on.
If you like fresh seafood and craft beer, I recommend the Riverbottom Bar and Grill. The owner also owns a fishing company in Washington and has fresh fish shipped every three days and oh it's delish! Prices are good and they have a large selection of craft beer on tap with indoor and patio dinning.
If you're looking for a more elegant restaurant, check out Mount Athos for Greek and Italian food and a bit of history. Another highlight is Florence's historic buildings in the town center, some of their stories are pretty amazing.
I really enjoyed my stay at Rancho Sonora Inn and left relaxed and refreshed.

The Rancho Sonora is a gem in the desert. Charming adobe, beautiful courtyard, well-appointed rooms, and very clean. Management is very kind and helpful. We highly recommend staying here if you're in the area rather than a local hotel. It has the historic charm, comfort, and beauty you are looking for with all the modern amenities.
Rejuvenating Stay at a Wonderful Inn

My husband and I recently visited the Florence area and stayed at this wonderful Inn for four nights. The courtyard is beautiful, our room was comfortable and quiet, and we left feeling refreshed. The owner checked with us daily in the breakfast room to ensure we were enjoying our stay.
Adorable Inn with a Not so Kind Staff

(I'll mention the impolite staff at the end) The Rancho Sonora Inn is absolutely adorable. It really stands out, especially in Florence where there is practically nothing around. We stayed here because we were going to a wedding at Windmill Winery and it was either Rancho Sonora or one other hotel in the area. My family and I got the Abbey Casita. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bedroom has a king, and the other has a double bed and a small twin size bed as well with an attached bathroom. It was really cute and comfy. My parents booked the Evangaline-Fernando Suite for my sister and her family. It was really cute too. They had a good continental style breakfast in the morning (free for the Evangaline-Fernando Suite, but $10 each for the Abbey Casita. The only thing the Rancho Sonora Inn could do better with is the check in system. If you don't get there by 6:00pm they leave your room unlocked with the keys in there. The office is closed, but you can ring to wake them up. I don't recommend doing this, as they are not very nice when this happens. We forgot to tell my sister and her family that their room was unlocked and the keys were in there so they rang the bell when they arrived. They were greeted quite rudely by the woman in the office. She really did make them feel like idiots. Then they locked their key in their room and, again, had to ring the bell. They were terrified to do this. The lady was incredibly rude again. For the price that is charged for these rooms it is unacceptable to be treated rudely. Paying customers should not be scared to ask for help!
