Unsatisfactory, but were able to move out early with a refund of remaining nights

First, the positive: the room (Zuni) was attractively decorated with a lovely fireplace, and the bathroom was wonderfully laid out and well appointed.
The negative:
1. There's a closet to hang clothes in, but no dresser or shelves for everything else, which meant we had to live out of our suitcases. There are two large leather chairs with ottomans in the room which, while attractive, took up way too much space in a smallish room. It would have been far better to have one chair w/ottoman and a DRESSER!
2. The sole window in the room had a sheer white paper shade on it that allowed the sunlight to come blasting into the room at sunrise (6:15 a.m. on a holiday weekend is too early to be awakened).
3. The glass door to the room was covered by wood blinds which were too narrow to adequately cover the full width of the door, thus allowing people to look into the room as they walked along the driveway. We had to hang a bath towel on one side of the door in order to insure some privacy.
4. The combination lock to the room was so tricky, it took several attempts to get it locked, even with help from the housekeeping staff. Twice we returned to our room to find it unlocked, though nothing had been touched in our room, fortunately.
5. The main areas of the hotel are under construction, which is never a good thing. There was no mention of this during the booking process. Had I known in advance, I would never have selected this hotel.
6. The staff, while apologetic for the shortcomings of our room, offered no solutions to make our stay better. We couldn't move to another room, they didn't have a spare dresser somewhere, etc. Not wanting to be uncomfortable for 3 nights of our vacation, we moved to La Posada and were glad we did.

Extremely friendly

Unbelievable staff that could not do enough for us. Comfortable and fun rooms.
Spent every night in the piano bar, singing and having the time of our lives.
Would highly recommend!!!
Excellent breakfast buffet available every morning.
I want to go back!

The staff made us feel very welcome and were very attentive. This was our first visit to Santa Fe, so they gave us an overview of the area and attractions. The highlight of Vanessie is Doug Montgomery, a superlative pianist and entertainer. We were captivated by his performances. Breakfast in the sunroom is very convenient and delicious.

Friendly Boutique Hotel

The staff at the Inn at Vanessa was welcoming from the minute that we arrived. The room was comfortable and spacious, my wife and I enjoyed the little courtyard adjacent to our room. We enjoyed a few evenings drinking wine on our private courtyard looking at the stars. Continental breakfast was a nice touch. The staff provided my wife and I with water for the hikes we took. Piano bar was nice, singer was a little 70's lounge singer but ok. Great location, easy to walk to all the plaza sites of Santa Fe.

Very Disappointed With Vanessie

oldtimer24 on 21/10/2017 21:04

My wife and I stayed in the "Sioux" room. It looked and sounded good in the ads. The assigned parking space was through a narrow alley and hard to negotiate. The room was up a long, steep wooden staircase. There are no elevators or bellhops if you are older or unable to carry heavy bags. The room was small, old, and in need of redoing. The tv remote did not work properly and was never replaced in the four nights we were there. The included breakfast was a tiny buffet and they added a $3 per person service charge to serve yourself. Stay away from this place.
