Celebrated a family birthday here today. The staff were amazing and could not be more friendly and helpful. The head chef saved the day when I had a bit of an accident with the birthday cake and did an incredible job of redecorating it.
The pub is beautiful, warm and cosy and the food is lovely. Definitely worth visiting. We will definitely be back!

Stopped for lunch on chance while driving. Very warm welcome and a pub that is a bit different with its menu choices. We ordered the flat bread, one with goats cheese and the other with the bacon, sausage etc. Both good except for the peculiar half egg on the bacon one, which was hard on top and completely uncooked underneath!!! We saw the sandwiches with soup which also looked good. May try again sometime.

We visited The Kings Head on 14 November, on our way to Southampton. Our reception by the staff was lovely and friendly, and we sat at a table in the main bar by the fire. The overall impression is of a cozy and stylish pub, exactly where you would like to take a spot of lunch. We had a simple lunch as we were going to be eating a large meal later. However, our burgers were perfectly cooked and attractively presented. We treated ourselves to a glass of prosecco, which was was a good decision! Everyone we spoke to on the staff were charming and friendly and very helpful. We would definitely visit again, and explore the rest of the menu"

Set in the snug, the Sipsmith Gin Masterclass was brilliant! We learnt so much about the history of gin, the evolution of Sipsmiths and had some excellent tasters. Following our gin overview we headed outside (in November) to the gin bar for a hot G&T under the starts. Canapes were served and the scotch eggs disappeared in a blink! I'd highly recommend a masterclass here, the environment is ideal and the local experts knowledge is fascinating. Roaring log fires inside or the blankets/heaters in the garden, the choice is yours.The gin wasn't bad too!

A stay here was as a birthday treat, but it was a little disappointing. The room looked great, but on closer inspection the furniture was shabby with paint chips and missing handles and there was dust on the top of the bed head, luggage rack and behind the bedside flowers. The bathroom was cold and we couldn’t get the radiator to work at all although the room radiator worked (we sorted this out by leaving the bathroom door open). We couldn’t open the lower windows owing to broken sashes. There was an iron, but no ironing board and a clock with no battery!
Junior staff were all lovely, but we were disappointed by the service in the dining room. We had booked a table but it seemed that this had not registered and we were pointed towards a table - where we waited, unattended, for over a quarter of an hour. My husband intervened and our order was taken, but still we weren’t asked if we would like to see the wine list or offered water. In all fairness, this poor service was acknowledged but it did taint the evening.
The food was delicious and to be recommended!
The bed was comfortable but my sleep was severely compromised by the traffic noise. Of course, I should have known that this would be the case given the location of the hotel.
