Not up to standard

It’s going to take some investment by management to get me to return. My first room was a disaster, it looked liked someone had lived in it for a year and had just packed up and left the day before. Staff was always friendly, and quickly offered another room. Which was “better”, a little more up to date but still needed work.
Beds, there were 3 in this room for 1 person, were so worn out I rose each morning with sore ribs. Shower temperature control was impossible as the water would cycle 20 degrees every 5 seconds, from scalding to moderate at the lowest temp setting.
These rooms have so much potential with high ceilings and so much room, and are just stuffed with furniture.
Could never figure out how get the heat to work, thankfully I like it cool.
The rest of the hotel flooring needs to be replaced and it was just generally dusty and unkempt everywhere but the dining areas. Wait staff was so slow and unorganized you have to plan ahead and god help you if you’re in a hurry.
Lovely lunch

Two words : wings and desserts. Divine. Hot and spicy wings were delicious and dessert involved a peanut caramel slice, ice cream and butterscotch sauce. Really decadent. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Attentive staff. Thumbs up!
NOISY! Worst Sleep Ever!

We should have known we were in for trouble when we checked in and the staff woman warned us about live music but she stated she was putting us in a room away from the music - not sure how this could be since she placed us in a room towards the front of the hotel where the music was playing. Ear plugs didn't help a bit. I might not have mined if it was traditional Irish music and probably would have joined them since I couldn't beat them, but it was a band playing standard pop style music. The music played late and that was bad enough but then what followed was the throngs of drunken people walking down the side street we faced making all sorts of noise. This went on for quite a while. If that all wasn't bad enough, I kept hearing what I thought was trash cans being rolled up and down the street in the early hours of the morning. When we got out of bed and peered out the window, we figured out it was the train that runs behind the hotel. Neither of us slept all night. The hotel itself isn't bad. Small and simple rooms, but cozy. The pub was fun and the Manager, Barry, and his staff were great hosts full of good conversation. We ate at the restaurant - mediocre food, slow wait staff. Bottom line is this place might be good for a younger crowd, but not the more seasoned traveler. If we were scheduled to stay more than one night we would have checked out and booked a more pleasant setting.

This hotel is thriving and the food is outstanding, I have recently travelled the whole way around the island of Ireland in 40 days on foot. I found that this was one of the most chic hotels we stayed in. Verging on the outskirts of Dublin, this hotel is perfect to commute or travel to. The rooms are modern with beautiful design and some of the rooms have wonderful views of the east coast of Ireland. I highly recommend this hotel for both young and old. Sunday night was jumping and if I was planning to head to Dublin, I would keep on driving until I come to the Martello. Thank you for your warm welcome and kindness during our stay. One of the good ones.
A gem of a place

We spent 4 nights at this hotel. We used it as a base for exploring Dublin and Wicklow. A great location! The hotel was lovely, staff friendly and the eating arrangements great! The standard of the food was absolutely delicious! One of the evenings I had s seafood linguine to die for! The breakfast was freshly cooked with a wide variety of choices on the menu! The only drawbacks were no lift, and no parking so although there was ample road parking guests had to make sure they purchased s day parking ticket it only cost 3 € but it needed to be displayed by 8.30. This didn’t cause a problem for us and the inconvenience was more than compensated by the great HOSPITALITY!!!!!! Thank you Martello!!!!!
