My sister and I are walking the Cleveland Way and stopped here for a night. Ian is such a warm and wonderful person. Our room was large and comfy. Ian drove us and other guests to a local pub and picked us up at a designated time. Breakfast was wonderful. I highly recommend this B&B.

My husband and I just finished walking the Cleveland Way, and in reminiscing about our various B and B's, The Old Rectory emerged as our all-time favorite of the trip. Ian, our host, was very friendly and clearly The Old Rectory is a labor of love. It's a 17th century house and he's been restoring it --- we stayed in a beautifully restored suite called The Hay Loft , with a living room, kitchen, bath on the ground floor, and a bedroom in the loft. Ian drove us to a nearby pub so we could get dinner, and picked us up at the end of our meal. This was a truly memorable B and B.

Truly exceptional! We'd stayed in the "drawing room" and it was genuinely the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! The room was beautiful, Ian a brilliant host, and breakfast fabulous.
I'm recommending it to everyone!

We had a one night stay here whilst walking the Cleveland Way. We arrived much earlier than expected in Kildale and Ian could not have been more accommodating. We hoped just to leave our rucksacks and do a bit more walking but Ian welcomed us and let us check in early. Our room was stunning and very comfortable. The next morning Ian served us a wonderful breakfast made with the highest quality ingredients including some delicious locally made sourdough bread. The Old Rectory is a first class b&b in a delightful village.

The reward for the hardest day of the Way was the best accommodation we experienced. Stunning location and quality. The Hayloft is exceptional. Our colonial cousins across the Pond would find it breathtaking!! Our breakfast was one of Kings and we couldn't be too much trouble for our magnificent host Ian. A true gentlemen in every sense. After a difficult day we were 'lorded' ... even to the extent of being taken to and returned from the Royal Oak in Great Ayton!! It is difficult to accurately recount jyst how good the Old Rectory is and that of the host!! Easily the favourite place of the whole trip.... just fantastic.
