Beautiful historic house in a lovely hamlet. Booked last minute and had a lovely room in the stables. Large and elegantly furnished with a great shower. Relaxation and calm permeated throughout our short stay. Breakfast especially good. Highly recommend for those times you would like a special relaxing stay. There are numerous activities available outdoor swimming pool and tennis court but not used as it was October. Would be lovely in summer. Highly recommend and some great Suffolk wool villages like Lavenham and Long Medford nearby.

I highly recommend The Old Rectory Country House. It’s a beautifully decorated place, steeped in history. It’s very homely, clean and comfortable. First class service from Tom the butler! I think the owners need to give Tom some time off, as he is very obviously a grafter and could definitely do with some work on his tan 😊. Thanks for a lovely stay.
What a wonderful last minute find!

A couple of weeks ago it was incredibly busy in Suffolk, accommodation wise. There was no room at the Inn, & certainly not along the Suffolk coast. So to find the sort of accommodation we like was proving to be difficult until I came across the Old Rectory on this site. There is a level of personal service here which is very special. We only stayed 1 night, but I loved the furnishings in our bedroom, the stocked fridge, the views, breakfast with other guests - very sociable & much better than a silent dining room oh, and finding a little French restaurant in Sudbury called The Secret Garden. Tick, tick tick. Tom sent me my earrings which I left behind. Thank you & we'll be back.
Does not get much better than this

A drizzly day but all was forgotten when we arrived and were met by Tom the butler/steward of this incredible property . Out of the way it may have been but inside-wow!-beautiful furnishings and very tasty décor. Sumptuous lounge to relax in and bedrooms to match . We had dinner in Lavenham but next morning Tom produced a breakfast to remember all from local sourced products .So well done to tom -we were sad to leave .
Lovely!

We have just returned from a lovely couple of days at The Old Rectory Country House.
We throughly enjoyed our stay!
We took our St. Bernard with us and stayed in the garden suite. The room was massive with a lovely conservatory and private garden which was perfect for the dog. The room was perfectly clean and comfortable, and we loved the eclectic mix of furniture. My partner being a prolific tea drinker was impressed to find a jug of fresh milk in our fridge and a large supply of tea, happily topped up by Tom the butler throughout our stay.
The breakfast was lovely! A whole range of choices including some great scrambled eggs and so large it kept us going till dinner.
Tom the butler was lovely. So helpful with recommendations and happy to help with any request.
The house Labrador Honey was a lovely way to be greeted as we got out of the car, and a very sweet play mate for our dog.
Over all we had a lovely stay and definitely intend on returning!
If your looking for modern minimalist surroundings then this isn't for you. But if your looking for a lovely old house in beautiful surrounds this is the place for you!
